Honestly, that gimmick would have worked but I never felt like Adonis was the right guy for the part. He was way overweight and had cow udders and we are suppose to believe that he thinks he's a pretty man? You did not need to be a good looking person to pull off that gimmick. I actually liked that gimmick. I thought he pulled it off well. It was better with him doing that gimmick then when Luger did the Narcissistic gimmick. I don't think Adonis was the right guy. Not because of his weight, but because his mannerisms didn't fit. He's spent his whole career as a new york tough guy. and even with this gimmick he still spoke like one. That said, it still came off really well, and probably would have continued if he hadn't left WWF after Wrestlemania III. Adonis was an amazing wrestler, but as the gimmick goes, he was no Adrien Street I also think Evil Doink was a success and really couldn't have continued longer than it did. people were starting to cheer him anyway, so when he turned on Lawler, people loved it. Granted, it didn't take long to go downhill from there, but it was still good. I'll agree on Mercy. Dan Spivey was always a great wrestler and would have finally gotten his big shot if his knees hadn't failed him. The biggest one for me is Phantasio... Not that the stuff he did in his only TV match was that great, and the magic wedgie was the dumbest thing ever. But I was a big fan of Spellbinder in USWA and really think he could have done much better in WWE had they really worked to push him. I'm not saying he would have been world champ or anything, but he could have at least had some success in the company. Butch Reed's Natural gimmick was also pretty good. But I like Reed in general, so I'm biased. There are probably more, but I'm having trouble thinking right off.

Cryme Tyme should have been a lot more successful. Those guys got some great reactions. Its a shame they didnt even win the tag titles. And I always thought Deuce & Domino could have lasted way longer than it did. Crack 'Em In The Mouth was an awesome tag finisher. Still amazes me when I think about Cryme Tyme, how badly the ball was dropped with them. They were over big time with the crowd, but got crapped on by management. Sad thing is, at one point when you had them align with Cena, it seemed, alright, something is finally going to happen for them, and then nothing.

For the people talking about the Adrian Adonis gimmick, he actually came up with that gimmick himself. At least that's what George Steele said in the "Timeline of the WWF for 1986" when he was talking about Adonis.

That was a wasted opportunity.

I always noticed too that with the tag division, it seems the rules of being a tag team goes like this...
You take 2 guys, put them together. Give them a winning streak, and then have them beat the champions in a few non title matches. Then they win the titles. They have a good run. Then they lose the belts. Lose the rematch. And then split up. And then one (or both) gets fired.
It happened with Conway and Grenier, Hurricane and Rosey, Spirit Squad, MNM, London & Kendrick, Deuce & Domino, Cade & Murdoch, Primo & Carlito, Hart Dynasty, and there is probably more teams I can't think of right now.
