he should drop the weight regardless of a bet or not. his chin, his power and his ground game are all good to great... at 205 hed be another force. at heavy, hes the best of the 'b' level guys (kongo, struve, barry... guys like that), but not quite at the 'a' level (dos santos, velasquez, mir, carwin, werdum).

I dont see him doing it. If he cant get in shape for the Heavyweight level what makes anyone think he'd be in shape for 205?

I bet you he'll go downhill if he drops. I'll bet that.

I think he will do fine at LHW. Get Mike Dolce to help him drop the weight...
at HW he will always be a B level fighter.

Then at LHW, he'll be a C level guy. Bet. Dude just seriously needs to work on his cardio and needs to work on being more technical. He gets into too many slugfests for no reason.

This. I like the guy, but at HW he's kind of becoming a glorified punching-bag. It would be interesting to see him at LHW... if he can work on his cardio too, he could be very competitive there. Mind you, I thought Brandon Vera would be a strong force when he dropped to LHW and look what happened there... Still, I think it's the right move for him (Nelson).

If you looked at Roy's last 3 fights, you'd be completely surprised to hear he is "ground specialist" considering all he's done is get punched, push off, get punched, push off, throw punches, get tired.

Roy Nelson isn't an elite fighter. Losing weight isn't going to change that.
The problem is that he has been fighting elite opponents who all have tremendous takedown defense and/or a better ground game than he does, so yeah, of course he's going to come out looking like crap. Put Nelson against someone like Travis Browne, Mike Russow, Gabriel Gonzaga, Pat Barry, Mark Hunt, etc. and you're going to see a better fight.
The problem isn't so much Nelson himself as it is that he has unrealistic expectations put on him by the UFC right now. His last three losses are all against guys who are in the top five-or-so right now.

I don't know when he made that post but it's over 100K now....I wonder if he actually will do it. I still want to see Roy vs. Mark Hunt at heavyweight first

I'm more concerned with the boobs that were promised if he reached 100,000.

It's weird he made this promise (to lose a lot of weight and get to 205) - and then gets matched with BIGFOOT Freakin' SILVA... the biggest HW out there.

Funny how people thought he was serious. Going to be even funnier watching him get beat up on for 15 minutes. Then get cut right afterwards.

No not exactly where you coming at with this one, out of all the fights I've seen of Roy he's always charging at the opponent in the 1st round then gets winded the 2nd and gets his ass kicked. This guy isn't going to feel nor look every good in the next couple years if he keeps pushing himself to challenge elitist fighers in attempts to for fill his unrealistic, foolish desires. Does he know his limitations at all?
