Professor Stephen Hawking has filmed a cameo for US sitcom The Big Bang Theory, due to be aired next month. The famous physicist will appear in a scene with socially awkward scientist Sheldon Cooper, played by Jim Parsons. Producers had asked Professor Hawking, best known for his best-selling book A Brief History of Time, to appear on the show before, but he had been too ill to take part. He previously recorded voice-overs for animations The Simpsons and Futurama. Professor Hawking's cameo will be screened in the US on 5 April, and on Channel 4 in the UK at a later date. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-17337778

They don't really need to record his voice if I'm not mistaken Stephen Hawking uses a voice simulator thing so in reality Hollywood has to replicate it.

I always loved the fact that Simpsons and Futurama actually got him to do it instead using the computer program themselves. It was really cool on their part and shows how awesome he is to have agreed to take part. I'm looking forward to him doing Big Bang Theory. Though I will say I'm almost disappointed to know about it already. I really wish I'd been surprised like when Neil deGrasse Tyson showed up. that's one of my favorite moments of the show, just because of how much I admire him. i'm actually going to see him next month, which is exciting

I think he will marry penny on the episode and they will live across the hall the rest of the series.

This should be awesome. I bet the look on Sheldon's face will be priceless in this episode.
