Mattel should start using the basic styled boots for Elite figures. Elite's are great, much better than Basics, (IMO). However, one thing better about Basic's are the boots. They are much better the may they are made, and look MUCH more realistic, not like they are separated (if you know what I mean).
Does anyone else agree that Basic boots should be used on Elites? I've switched Basic Boots to Elites many times.

I don't really care either way but if they switched to only Basic boots I could live with it. I guess it would be nice to do boot swaps with anyone, regardless if they are Basic or Elite.

In favor of this. Mainly because it would presumably end the loose ankle epidemic.

I do think Basic boots are more solid, as i have not had one basic figure fall over from the loose ankle syndrome yet but the problem is with basic boots, they don't have the side to side ankle movement that elites do, so if you were to spread your elite figures legs to do a wider legged pose, your figure would be unbalanced and possibly fall over more. I know a lot of times when i do poses with lets say Shawn Michaels doing his little popular pose with his legs split and making muscles with both arms, i rely on that ankle articulation to keep him balanced.

The rocker ankles on Elites are important because the legs can be spread wider, so the feet would not always sit flat if you couldn't move the ankle side-to-side.

I jsut wish they would make them compatible so we can do boot switches without the gap in between the boot and calf.

I have been fortunate enough that only 2-3 of my figures have had loose ankles. I know some people have had it much worse. If they switched to basic boots I would be ok with that. Not a bad suggestion.

I like the boot articulation for the most part, but I think Mattel should tone down the range on the rockers. Some figures just have weak ankles. It's like they haven't been eating their Wheaties or something.

Then what's the point of the elite articulation if you give them the basic boot? what I mean is the Elite boots are designed to give the figures a solid balance for the hyper action poses. That's why they have the greater forward & backwards range of motion as well as the side to side pivoting motion. This way no matter the pose the feet will have a solid contact with the surface. If they had the basic boots they wouldn't have the same balance as you couldn't get as much of the foot touching the surface.

I think the extra articulation is great. I haven't run into many problems and I'm kind of disappointed when I buy a figure from another line and find out its missing the extra movement. The problem is it might not be Mattel's best design. Other companies seem to have done it better. For example Marvel Select Colossus has a tight fitting look with no gaps but still has smooth all around movement.

How do they look more realistic? Is the giant peg hole in the side of them more realistic?

i honestly believe mattel should just change the design...... that gap is the reason i dont buy elites much. my Legends Eddie just leans forward all the time. even when i fix his boots so he can stand straight. then i come home, he is leaning on some other figure..... so he does not do a domino affect!

I'm honestly fine with basic boots for elites. I feel that ankle articulation isn't needed.

Yeah I have a few legends that always lean, especially hillbilly Jim and Brian Pillman. I wouldn't mind I'd they used the basic boots at all as I think they look better.
