It always competes with Wrestlemania 11 for worst Wrestlemania so lets see what we can do to get it off the bottom of the pile and up into what could have been people favourite Wrestlemanias. I think (might be wrong) that this was a 3 hour Wrestlemania, I'd give it and extra hour as I think a little bit more time would benefit what matches could happen. *The layout was awesome, one of my favourite Wrestlemania arenas and the toga theme was fun. I'd try and keep the commentary team the same and bring in Monsoon for the main event (possible match before as well) as I liked Savage on commentary, he worked well with Heenan and a young Jim Ross did well to be the middle man.*1) - Tatanka (with Sensational Sherri) vs. Shawn Michaels (c) (with Luna Vachon) Singles match for the WWF Intercontinental Championship (18:13) 2) - The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott) vs. The Headshrinkers (Samu and Fatu) (with Afa) Tag team match (14:22) 3) - Doink the Clown vs. Crush (08:28) *I'd leave everything the same up until this point as the opening and following tag match I think are good, a little underrated even. The Doink and Crush match does the job and nothing more for it really. The scoop slam from the headshrinkers shoulders was ing awesome though.*4) - Yokozuna vs. Bob Backlund (03:45) *Yokozuna needed to be built up as a monster but I think my main event is better. Save Yoko/Hart for WM X and replace the short match between Razor and Backlund with this as Yoko can get a good win at Wrestlemania, Backlund can have his Wrestlemania match and nothing is lost from the card. It also frees up Bret and Razor to have better matches on the card.* 5) - Money Inc. (Ted DiBiase and Irwin R. Schyster) (c) vs. The Mega-Maniacs (Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake) (with Jimmy Hart) Tag team match for the WWF Tag Team Championship (18:27) *I'd leave this as it is, good tag match that was mainly for the big return of Hogan, makes the crowd excited. Could change the winners but Dibiase/IRS would be around after Mania so they should keep the belts.*6) - Ric Flair vs. Mr. Perfect Loser leaves WWF (18:00) *Don't know why this wasnt saved for Wrestlemania, good match on Raw and it was Wrestlemania worthy. I'd pay Flair a decent sum for him to go through with the match at this time rather than on Raw as it belongs on a big PPV. This gets about 8 extra minutes match time as thats around the length the Raw match went so wouldnt change that. Michaels can attack Perfect when he's being interviewed about the win instead of chasing Luger.* 7) - Narcissist Lex Luger vs. Big Boss Man (7:00/10:00) *I quite liked the Narcissist gimmick . I'd keep Luger how he was and the lovely ladies who accompanied him. This one suffers a bit with having no real good face opponent left for Luger, I think Bulldog was fired around this time so he wouldn't really be an option. Bam Bam and Luger would put on a good match and Bam Bam deserved a match on Mania as he featured at the Rumble PPV and he pretty much headlined King of the Ring so he should get some build, just dont think he deserves a whole new match slot. Only problem with him and Luger is 2 heels. Boss Man therefore would be the best option as hes a solid worker, can put on a good match and be a viable threat to Luger and Luger can still use his dodgy forearm to win with Bossman being pissed about it afterwards.*8) - The Undertaker (with Paul Bearer) vs. Razor Ramon (with Harvey Wippleman & Giant Gonzalez) (12:00/15:00) *Taker and Gonzalez didnt work in-ring wise so I changed it up whilst keeping the story near enough the same. Taker/Gonzalez can happen at Summerslam like it did. Adding Razor gives Taker a good opponent to work with, builds Razor up and allows for Taker/Gonzalez to interact without a terrible match happening. You could keep taker being choked out by chloroform and returning or even having beat Razor, have a quick match with Gonzalez.*9) - Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Bret Hart (c) Singles match for the WWF Championship (20:00)
*Not much to add on this. It would be a great match and it would make Wrestlemania 9 a lot better.*I added around 27/30 mins of added in-ring action whilst not adding a lot of entrances and things. Only one extra match (if you dont count Hogan/Yoko as a match) so add around 10 mins for entrances and interviews for that and you have a good near 4 hour Wrestlemania that I think with what was on offer for that time would hold up nicely in todays Wrestlemania anthologies. Please rate/hate and add your own thoughts, fix-ups, fix-downs and whatever else you think Wrestlemania 9 needs to improve it.

Cool topic. Really got into this and had some fun.
I looked up the WWF February, 1993 roster to make this fair. A lot of things would have to change though. Owen Hart would've had to be pushed as a solid face and not injured. Also, Mr. Perfect would have had to win the 1993 Royal Rumble.
Dark Match: Doink vs. Tatanka I would have kept Evil Doink the same but instead of setting his sights on Crush, it would have been on Tatanka. I would have made this the dark match to give the main event more time. Tatanka wins by DQ when Doink hits him with a chair or something.
WWF Intercontinental Championship - Shawn Michaels (c) vs. Owen Hart None of that Sherri/Luna nonsense takes place here. Great opening contest with HBK getting the win with Sweet Chin Music.
Bam Bam Bigelow vs. The Undertaker No Giant Gonzales even making the card. Undertaker wins in a good big man match after Bam Bam misses the Flying Headbutt and takes a Tombstone.
WWF Tag Team Championship - Money Inc. (c) vs. Steiner Brothers Steiner Brothers win after IRS accidentally strikes DiBiase with the briefcase. Steiner Brothers then toss money into the crowd.
Yokozuna vs. Randy Savage I would still have Yoko eliminate Savage from the Rumble which would lead to this match. Yokozuna still goes over after salt in the eyes followed by Banzai Drop.
Lex Luger vs. Hulk Hogan The Narcissist targets Hogan instead of Perfect due to Python talk. I'd keep this one short. A lot of posing for crowd reaction. Luger takes Hogan out with the Forearm and pins him. Yeah...that just happened. Hogan goes to make Thunder In Paradise.
Razor Ramon vs. Rick Martel I would have let this match determine whether or not to give Razor his face turn. Rick Martel would still be doing his "Model" gimmick which would ensure heat. Razor wins with The Razor's Edge.
WWF Championship - Bret Hart (c) vs. Mr. Perfect I'd give these guys all the time in the world. An excellent match as always. Bret wins with The Sharpshooter followed by a handshake in the ring.
This PPV would do two things: 1. Let Hogan/Savage put over new talent and begin "New Generation". 2. Showcase the great workers of the business (HBK, Owen, Bret, Perfect) on the grandest stage of them all.

Here is my card with a couple caveats while trying not to alter the storylines too much: 1. Randy Savage wins the Rumble 2. Marty Jannetty wasnt released
WWF Title Match Bret Hart (c) vs Randy Savage (Rumble winner) -Bret wins a classic match and shares a hand shake afterwards, pushing the New Generation
Tag Title Match Money Inc (c) vs Hulk Hogan and Brutush Beefacake
Undertaker vs Giant Gonzalez
Mr. Perfect vs Lex Luger
IC Title Match Shawn Michaels w/Luna (c) vs Marty Jannetty w/Sherri -Continues the feud from the Rumble, with the aded aspect of Lun and Sherri in the mix
Crush vs Doink
Yokozuna vs Tatanka -Tatanka has his undefeated streak come to an end at the hands of WWF's newest monster, Yokozuna
Headshrinkers vs Steiner Bros
Razor Ramon vs Owen Hart -Ramon attacked Owen before his Rumble match with Bret, so Owen could have returned as the up start face looking for revenge

Thanks man.
I was debating back and forth about whether or not to have both Hogan and Savage lose.
I think it's important to put Yoko over Savage because it was so important to build him up as the top heel. WWF was so short on heels at the time. I'd have Savage put up a hell of a fight but go down to salty eyes & Banzai drop.
In regards to Hogan, I would have incorporated the eye injury as a reason for his loss. You could have Luger hit him with the forearm to the eye and beat him that way. That would also give Hogan an exit to the company (claim injury) or would even lead to a King of the Ring re-match if one so desired.
If you didn't want to put Hogan & Savage in singles matches you could always re-unite The Mega Powers to go against Money Inc. for the tag titles too!

I won't book the matches, but here would be my perfect WM 9
1) Money Inc. v. Steiners, Tag Champ Match
2) Yokozuna v. Bam Bam Bigelow
3) Razor Ramon v. Kona Crush
4) Owen Hart v. Rick Martel
5) HBK v. Mr Perfect, IC Title match
6) Undertaker v. Macho Man Randy Savage
7) Bret Hart v. Hulk Hogan

my card:
1) Doink vs Crush - opening match....pretty much keep it the same
2) IC Championship Match - Shawn Michaels vs Mart Jannety ...rematch from the Rumble, this time Sherri costs HBK the Belt...and Shawn can win it back at Raw or KOTR a few months later with the Diesel introduction...
3) Yokozuna vs Big Boss Man - yoko gets the quick win,in Ray's farewell to the WWF....
4) Razor Ramon vs Owen Hart ....Razor still talking smack about the Hart's afterr the RR, Owen comes out to defend them...plus Razor beat up Owen pretty good leading up to the Rumble, so there's a revenge angle here as well...Razor wins,though...
5) Tag Team Championship - Money,Inc. vs Steiners .... Steiners win the belts...
6) Ric Flair vs Mr. Perfect - wylee had this, HAH!, "Perfect" ! an attempt at interference from HBK sets up the SummerSlam feud against Perfect later down the line....
7) Bam Bam Bigelow vs Undertaker - back an forth, til Taker gets the upper hand, Whippleman and Gonzalez come out and attack Taker, giving him the DQ win,and do the whole chloroform thing, setting up SummerSlam for them...
8) Co-Main Event - Hulk Hogan vs Lex Luger - good call by Bash! Luger hits the forearm, but Hulk kicks out and "Hulks Up"! Heenan leaves the broadcast booth and distracts Hogan and the ref, allowing Luger to grab one of the mirrors from ringside and smash Hogan over the head, giving him the tainted victory, and a bloody Hogan is helped out of the WWF....
9) Co - Main Event - WWF Championship Match - Bret Hart vs Randy Savage - epic back and forth affair ends when Savage reaches the ropes to break the Sharpshooter, but is weak in the legs, and is rolled up in a surprise small package from the hitman for the win...afterwards there's hugs and handshakes...

Keep it as until Hogan comes out at the end, just replace Hogan with Neidhart and you have a 100% perfect WM card.

I like the Owen Hart vs. Razor Ramon angle. Totally forgot about his pre-Rumble attack.

I like the Owen Hart vs. Razor Ramon angle. Totally forgot about his pre-Rumble attack. I thought this would have been a natural transition too (I included it in my WM9 re-book) but I think Owen was injured when he was eliminated in the Rumble that year. Maybe thats why Razor was thrown into a match with Backlund with no build up? On a related topic, anyone else think it was interesting how Razor went from arguably a #1 heel (getting a title shot at Rumble) to being a face by the summer? I think people forget how over he really was.

Just to nitpick but rebooking Wrestlemania IX doesn't mean rebook the year(s) prior.
Savage can't be in the main event when he wasnt even an active wrestler at the time. Perfect wouldn't be in the main event for the title when he coming back from injuries and still upper mid card. Also, someone who became a main eventer or popular guy after the fact can't be booked so when they werent at the time.
Just looks like some (not all) just took the roster of wrestlemania IX and made the best matches/feuds. Some are illogical with what was going on at the time.
That said it's just a "what if" scenario.....so carry on.

Going by your rules, make this wrestle mania better = hogan not winning in the end.

He was just in the main event of Survivor Series 92 and was the last man eliminated in that years Rumble. In my re-book, I simply made him the Rumble winner, which rumor has it was the original plan in real life until Vince changed it last minute to Yoko winning. Really, Mania 9 was kind of the beginning of the end of Savage's active career, though he still wreslted occasionally on RAW and had his angle with Crush where he was involved in the 94 Rumble and WM10.

I'd still have had Yoko win the Rumble, but instead of fighting for the WWF Title, Savage and Yoko would have entered a feud where they met at WM. That would leave it open for Hogan and Bret. Now I know that Hogan refused to work w/ Bret in 1993 and Vince was pulling the strings to strain their real-life relationship, but if I could have done things my way, thats how it would have gone down. Bret and Savage would have faced off at KOTR, while Yoko would have won KOTR. Bret retains against Savage, but looses to Yoko at SummSlam same way he lost at WM.
I know everybody would have wanted Hart vs Savage for the classic they would have put on, but Hogan vs Hart was the match I, and many others, at the time wished for, as it was like Muhammad Ali vs Tyson, or Babe Ruth vs Mickie Mantle. The match wouldn't have been as good as Hart and savage, but Bret would have pulled out a decent match from Hogan and Bret going over would have made it one of the more memorable mania endings ever.
Bret Hart vs Hulk Hogan - WWF Championship - Bret wins cleanly
Yokozuna vs Randy Savage - Yoko wins w/ the Banzi Drop after a hard fought fight from Savage
Undertaker vs Razor Ramon - Undertaker wins cleanly. Like other have said, the whole Gonzalez thing was stupid, but since it was in 1993, he could have been in Razor's corner. Taker would win and Gonzalez would have attacked him afterwards to further their feud. This way it allows for two legends early in their careers to go at at.
Lex Luger vs Mr. Perfect - Luger wins by grabbing the ropes and HBK attacks Perfect afterwards...just like how it happened
Steiner Bros vs Ted Dibiase and IRS - World Tag Team Titles - Steiner Bros. win
Shawn Michaels vs Tatanka - IC Title - HBK retians the same way it happened

Really, the only thing I would have done different was give Owen Hart a bigger face push and have Mr. Perfect win the 1993 Royal Rumble. Perfect was certainly over enough as a face and could have been just fine winning. Also, wyleecyotee, you should really do one of these for Wrestlemania 11.
