John Cena sat down with Brian Soscia of The Soscia Network for a Q&A session with fans. You can see video of the interview by clicking here. Highlights from the interview are as follows:
Who is left if he defeats The Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII: "Honestly, this is what I like about April 1, you have a definitive number one being decided. I think at that point it is anybody's game to try to take somebody off the mountain. We're at a period in WWE, WrestleMania is truly the end of an era. Triple H vs. Undertaker, Shawn Michaels is a special referee, John Cena vs. The Rock. One of those names, one of those names is a full-time employee for this company and you're looking at him.
"So I think WrestleMania is a platform, as it always is, for new Superstars - Daniel Bryan, Sheamus, C.M. Punk, Cody Rhodes, Team Laurinaitis, Team Teddy Long. Anyone can step up. I'm going to be there on the top of the mountain with my fists up waiting for someone to challenge me. I think everybody is going to watch WrestleMania and enjoy it, but I think everyone behind the curtain, behind the wall that I'm not supposed to talk about, is going to be watching as hungry as they can be knowing that they want to face the winner of that match."
Advice to younger wrestlers: "Never give up. Back in 2003, 2002, when I was just wearing boots and tights and I was supposed to be the ruthless aggression young good guy, nobody in the company liked me. I know Vince McMahon won't admit this, but he wanted me fired, Triple H wanted me fired, everybody hated me. They just wouldn't give me a forum to showcase my talents. I've always been able to connect with the audience if given the ability to speak.
"I got that ability and I was off to the races. I was up against all odds. I wasn't born into this business. I'm not a third generation guy or a second generation guy. I'm just a dude who grew up a fan like all you guys and I wanted to do this my whole life. And I never gave up. That's the advice I give to all the young cats, all the guys who have been trying and trying, trying to make it, attempt after attempt. I've failed many times, but you never ever give up."

makes you think
imagine what the WWE would be like today without John Cena imagine what TNA would be like because Cena probably would have ended up there had he been fired by Vince

It's funny, because I've heard Punk say in interviews that Triple H wanted him (Punk) fired too. I can't help but think that it's a way of them testing these guys--to see just how badly they really want it. I mean, let's face it: if Vince McMahon wanted someone fired, they'd be fired. The same probably stands for Triple H too.

Jericho would tell you (in his book) that Vince and Triple H wanted him fired for giving Chyna a black eye back in 1999.
Meh...I doubt they wanted Cena fired. It's not like there was ever a time where he wasn't getting shoved down our throats one way or another.

I don't believe that, if Vince wanted him fired then Vince purely wouldn't have let him go over, and would have had him fade into nothing.

I don't believe that, if Vince wanted him fired then Vince purely wouldn't have let him go over, and would have had him fade into nothing. After the brief Angle/Jericho programs he had started a fade into the descent of nothingness (which is likely when Vince/Triple H would have considered firing him) before the rap gimmick changed everything.

That'd be funny, because after the second Angle/Jericho program (2005) it was many of the fans who wanted him fired then.

The same probably stands for Triple H too. There's other people in the company who Vince would listen to. Maybe someone like Stephanie was pushing for him to stay. Jericho liked him so I'm sure he had some other supporters It's not like there was ever a time where he wasn't getting shoved down our throats one way or another. Before 2004, he wasn't.

So Cena being in TNA would make no difference. I think had Brock not left then Cena would be nowhere near the level he is now.

If Cena was let go and ended up in TNA, I think we would all look at him as "What's his name, uh, yea, Cena." WWE took Cena and they made him the ing mega star he is today. The rap gimmick was so ing cool, it was fresh, it was great. I was such a Cena mark when I was 13 and 14, back in 2003 and 2004. They came up with something special there and it worked to perfection. Sure, he's staled and has lost many fans, but he's still a mega star. He stills makes millions, draws huge, and sells merch better than 99% of his peers. Vince and company concocted the Cena monster just like the Rock monster, the Stone Cold monster. Cena in TNA might just be another guy, never know.

It's a shame they ended up keeping him. Yeah, such a shame they kept the biggest star of the past decade. What idiots.

It's a shame they ended up keeping him. No, it's not. He's the single most well-known, hard working and successful wrestler of his era. Stop hating.

Don't like Cena...
But he's a great super-face. I couldn't imagine any other person.

I'm not gonna lie, over the years i've grown fond of Cena. he's like the cast member of a t.v. show that isn't your favorite but dedicated enough to entertain you with whatever he does. I mean, I'm on team cena going into wrestlemania. Cena said it best, he was born into the business, he just had the passion that we all have but his pushed him to make a career out of it with no turning back.

Cena grew up a wrestling fan.....HA HA HA! I know I know, He did a boston crab and had a hand drawn championship belt (that everyone assumes is a wrestling belt, May I remind you of a forgotten sport called Boxing that also uses belts). Therefore he MUST be telling the truth. Despite the fact that countless wrestlers INCLUDING CENA HIMSELF have said He got into wrestling after persuing a bodybuilding career. Anyone one of us here knows more about wrestling then John Cena yet hes gonna tell us that hes been watching his whole life? If so then someone explain why hes so lost inside a ring?

My career path is musician but as a lifelong wrestling fan I've always wanted to get into the ring. I'm finally getting training after 7 years, in the next couple months, and I think thats what he meant. he eventually switched to something that suited his passions better. and yeah he is really redundant in the ring but Cena is honestly a monster on the microphone and just has that superstar personality so i think that carries him. hogan wasnt that good in the ring either, imo. but yeah, just my view on it! =)

I think Cena is completely terrible on the mic. Difference of opinion I guess
