Is a pro sports team really worth this much? What are you thoughts?

$2 billion dollars seems like a hell of a lot more than it should have been.
George Steinbrenner bought the Yankees for $10 million and right now the Yankees are only estimated as being worth $1.85 Billion.
Since the Yankees are the #1 sports Franchise in terms of worth.....the Dodgers can't be anywhere NEAR the $2 billion that Magic and his group paid for them....seems like a dumb move.

Its all about the network deal as well. Yanks are worth about $1.5bil as a team, but including the YES Network and Legends, their value is $5.1 billion. The new owners are going to auction off the TV rights, and it is expected to fetch at least $4 billion.
Magic always was one of the smarter athlete investors. Look at all of the failed basketball players who tried to buy/manage a team, notably Isaiah and Michael.

Seems high to me, but I suppose with all the variables involved... they could do alright if the field a competitive team for years to come.

I don't care how much it was because they're already 3-1 and the weight of the entire horrible financial situation being lifted has already made my baseball season so far way less miserable than last years

They're a huge market team, I'm sure there were plenty of variables in the decision.

Seems like alot of money for the dodgers, I just hope they have enough for trades and free agents.
