Thought I start kind of general thread for this as there doesn't seem to be many threads for CS figures lately.
Man I have to say I miss the line. I miss seeing line-ups, especially when new faces were going to be released. Double excited for anyone whom had never had ANY figure made of them before (Rodz, Briscos, etc).
I mean JAKKS gave us 181 unique names:
"Cowboy" Bob Orton "Mean" Gene Oakerlund "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase "Outlaw" Ron Bass "Superstar" Billy Graham Abdullah the Butcher Adam Bomb Afa Al Snow Andre the Giant Andy Kaufman Arn Anderson B. Brian Blair Bad News Brown Bam Bam Bigelow Barbarian Barry Windham Bastion Booger Berzerker Big Boss Man Big John Studd Big Show / Paul Wight Billy Kidman Bob "Spark Plugg" Holly Bob Backlund Bobby "The Brain" Heenan Bobby Eaton Bret "Hit Man" Hart Brian Pillman Brooklyn Brawler / Abe "Knuckleball" Schwartz Brother Love Bruiser Brody Bruno Sammartino Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake Buddy "Jack" Roberts Buff Bagwell Bushwhacker Butch Bushwhacker Luke Capt. Lou Albano Chief Jay Strongbow Chris Jericho Danny Davis Davey Boy Smith Dean Malenko Demolition Ax Demolition Crush / Kona Crush Demolition Smash / Repo Man Diamond Dallas Page Don Muraco Droz Dusty Rhodes Dynamite Kid Earthquake Eddie Guerrero Edge Ernie Ladd Fabulous Moolah Freddie Blassie George "The Animal" Steele Giant Gonzales Goldberg Goldust Gorilla Monsoon Grandmaster Sexay Greg "The Hammer" Valentine Gregory Helms Hacksaw Jim Duggan Haku / Meng Harley Race Harvey Whippleman Hillbilly Jim Honky Tonk Man Howard Finkle Hulk Hogan Hunter-Hearst-Helmsley / Triple H Iron Sheik / Col. Mustafa Irwin R. Schyster Ivan Koloff Ivan Putski Jack Brisco Jake "The Snake" Roberts Jeff Hardy Jerry "The King" Lawler Jerry Brisco Jesse "The Body" Ventura Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart Jim Brunzell Jim Ross Jimmy Hart Jimmy Snuka Jimmy Valiant John Cena Johnny Rodz Junkyard Dog Kamala Kane Ken Patera Ken Shamrock Kevin Nash Kevin Sullivan Killer Kowalski King Kong Bundy King Mabel Koko B. Ware Lance Storm Lex Luger Luna Vachon Mae Young Mankind / Dude Love / Cactus Jack Marty Jannetty Matt Hardy Michael "P.S." Hayes Mr. Fuji Mr. Perfect Nasty Boy Brian Knobbs Nasty Boy Jerry Sags Natalya Neidhart Nikita Koloff Nikolai Volkoff One Man Gang / Akeem Original Sheik Papa Shango / Godfather Paul Bearer Paul Orndorff Peter Maivia Randy Orton Razor Ramon / Scott Hall Rey Mysterio Ric Flair Rick Martel Rick Rude Rick Steiner Ricky Morton Rikishi Road Warrior Animal Road Warrior Hawk Rob Van Dam Robert Gibson Rocky Johnson Roddy Piper Ron Simmons Sabu Scotty 2 Hotty Sensastional Sherri Sgt. Slaughter Shane McMahon Shawn Michaels Sid Sika Spike Dudley Stan Lane Stephanie McMahon Steve Austin Steve Blackman Steve Williams Sunny Tank Abbott Tatanka Tazz Ted DiBiase, Jr. Terry Funk / Chainsaw Charlie Terry Gordy The Genius The Mountie The Rock Tito Santana Tony Atlas Trish Stratus Tully Blanchard Typhoon / Shockmaster Ultimate Warrior Undertaker Vader Val Venis Vince McMahon Virgil Warlord William Regal X-Pac / 1-2-3 Kid Yokozuna Zeus
Then there were names that were signed, but sadly never meant to be: Arnold Skaaland Balls Mahoney Batista Blackjack Mulligan Bradshaw Butcher Vachon Chris Benoit Christian Dennis Condrey D'Lo Brown Dory Funk, Jr. Headbanger Mosh Headbanger Thrasher Jim Cornette Jimmy Garvin Johnny Valiant Kurt Angle Linda McMahon Lita Mad Dog Vachon Marc Mero Nailz Outback Jack Pat Patterson Sandman Sir Oliver Humperdink Skinner Slick Tom Brandi
I had hoped JAKKS' LOTR line would be a chapter 2 for their classic wrestling figures, but it seems the LOTR was the equivalent of a bad direct-to-DVD sequel.

The Classic Superstars line was pretty awesome. I miss the line too. That's what got me to start collecting wrestling figures. I started buying around Series 12. The first figure I bought was Walmart Hogan and then I got hooked. During a period of time, I bought all the cs that I miss starting from series 1. Those were the good times. Now I mostly sold all of my CS expect a few that I still want to keep.

Sad how the Mattel legends line has produced about 40 of those guys, and will not come close to the number Jakks reached.
The Classic Superstars line is greatest wrestling line of all time, and that will not change.

I agree. I do feel bad for the die-hard Mattel Legends collectors, but I just don't see the line being sold at Matty's to be around next year. I remember reading some articles from this site back in 2003 or so and hearing about the line. But it wasn't until I saw CS 1 Warrior proto that th eline really caught my attention. I saw CS 1 Warrior and I HAD to have him. It was incredible and to this day is still one of my favor CS figures. I didn't become a die-hard CS collector until roughly CS 5. From there, this happened:

tna's lotr isn't gonna be chapter 2, which is a shame considering the possibilities.
i still have my classics displayed, although i did open a few to free up space. the classic lines the only line i'd quite gladly drop a shitload of money on and did on my 1/100's.
there's just something about them you look at and think it just isn't a normal figure, maybe its the packaging. thats what got me hooked, and my old favourites obviously.
the first set got me hooked as i'd just watched the wm12 iron man match for the first time so i loved the shawn and bret. who hasn't seen andre getting slammed by hogan? needed him too. warrior looked sick, another easy buy.
jakks really new how to get us hooked.

^ You're right. JAKKS' LOTR line will sadly not be chapter 2. Hell I'm hoping just for a few figures (Scott, Cornette, Andre, AJ, & a few others) to help fill the voids of my collection. But that is a different topic.
After the CS line ended I think most people sold a lot of their collections in favor of getting money for Mattel's stuff. I also felt a lot of legends collectors sold their CS stuff once they saw Mattel's Legends line. But I think their line isn't doing so hot and it seems a lot of CS stuff that sold for chep are now starting to become hard to find.
I can very easily see the CS line going the way of LJNs, Hasbros, and even the BCA lines, as there seems to be some very die-hard collectors for each line. I hope a lot of CS die-hards see this thread and contribute as I think it would be fun again to discuss the CS line.

I have everyone from the classics line. Now when I say that I don't mean every figure ever made from the line but each wrestler. From Sabu to the Sheik, Steve Williams to Steve Austin, Iron sheik to Col Mustafa, they are all displayed on 4 shelves in my attic. I started collecting CS in 2010 when the line ended and it's been fun tracking them all down. I have now gone further and bought every wrestler, diva, playset, ring, backstage set released by jakks. It's an awesome collection and its all loose apart from a few figures - Bruno, 3 faces of Undertaker, Jack Brisco and the rock n roll express. I honestly think jakks are the best at what they do and find it funny that other Mattel collectors are asking for legends figures that jakks have already done brilliantly. When I wa young and played with my figures the dream was always to have every superstar in scale with each other, rather than have matches between Hasbro Roddy Piper vs jacks BCA Goldust. CS renewed my collecting addiction by making this possible.

I really miss the CS line. That is what got me back into collecting in the first place.I also collect Legends and mattel flashbacks.
I still like the hunt of going into flea markets and not know what CS figure you will find to add to your collection. I have a long way to go before i am done.

Man I wish I could say that was the case for me. I basically have a few bilingual carding variants and some exclusives to find. I do intend to obtain the 1/100s but that is more of a occasional thing, not even close to being able to "just pick them up"

The CS line will always be the greatest line of figures ever made. Truly, a great line to collect. I have collected both the LJN and Hasbro figures in the past, and it was the CS line that got me collecting again in my 30's. The CS line just has that "classic" feel to it that Mattel will never have for me. Here's hoping Jakks gives us a few more new faces before they stop the line.
I really wish some of those names got made that were signed but no figure of like:
Arnold Skaaland Blackjack Mulligan Butcher Vachon Dennis Condrey Dory Funk, Jr. Jim Cornette Jimmy Garvin Johnny Valiant Mad Dog Vachon Marc Mero Nailz Outback Jack Pat Patterson Sir Oliver Humperdink Skinner Slick
Just think how great the CS line would have been with these figures? It's a shame they never got made.

Plus I think there would have been names never made in figure form before. But it was incredible the names we got in figure form. It was the lightning in a bottle effect JAKKS did that made me feel like a kid again for these figures. Hunting them down, trading, watching your collection grow! Man it was an awesome time. I think 2007 was my favorite year followed by 2006 then 2005/2008.

Yeah, there was so many names I would have liked to see like that never even made it to the "rumor list" like:
Adrian Adonis Billy Jack Haynes Harlem Heat Ted Arcidi Max Moon Butch Reed Ronnie Garvin Dino Bravo Hercules SD Jones Corp. Kirshner Jack Tunney Lord Alfred Hayes Sean Mooney Eddie Gilbert Moondogs Beverly Brothers Orient Express Rougeau Brothers Power and Glory JJ Dillion
......Just to name a brief few. I do feel there were some wasted spots in the CS line over-all. Especially, in the 2 packs. They could have and should have used the spots more wisely. Some of the spots seemed like they were just tossed in.

Thanks for posting your collection dude. You have a lit self-control. I cant keep a fig MOC for the life of me.
I have a pretty extensive loose collection, and with customs I'm guessing my collection is about 400 figs, and counting.
I also have most of the mattel legends, but they just don't measure up.

holy crapLeigh your collection is awesome! you really have 2 of almost every CS MOC? wow. i agree man, the Classic line was just awesome for all the FAILS (CS 28 as a whole, CS16 Sid with the awful part choices, CS20 Rock re-released, Shockmaster instead of Tugboat, Warlord & Barbarian singles with zero accessories, Crush being mini) there were soooo many awesome figures (CS8 Hogan, CS 17 Eddie, All the Doinks, all the Warriors, etc.) Even though ive broken up my complete collection, i feel ive narrowed it down to a pretty definitive line and its one of my favorite parts of my overall collection

I do have multiples but they are either variants or carding variants. Carding variants usually means the WHOLE set so like 1-5 have bilingual and english cardings, CS 6 has a fw re-releases from 2010, CS 7, 10, 16, 19, and other has a small change but that means I needed the whole set. Its a lot But yeah Chip & STING, the CST had a lot of re-paints but the 3-packs were even worse! I think with the exception of Demolition, Maivia/Johnson, Freebirds, and WM 25 tribute set, all of them had re-paints!

I nearly died when finding out Jakks was producing a new Bret Hart. I remember being on the boards before protos were released for CS1 and the hype that lead up to it.. And to this day, the only figures I've ever pre-ordered were Diesel, Mr Perfect, Sabu, and 123 Kid.
