With WrestleMania "season" fading out, I remember reading an interview on WWE.com with Austin and various aspects of WrestleMania. While reading it I found it rather odd that the hottest feud in 1998 (Austin vs. Vince) never had the final blow off match at a WrestleMania.
I would think an Austin vs. Vince one-on-one match would have been a perfect setting for WrestleMania XV or maybe even 2000 had Austin not been injured. I think Rock could've defended his WWF title against Mankind while Austin fought Vince, maybe in a Steel Cage.
Anyone else find it odd they never fought on the big stage?

Not really because its Wrestlemania. The main event is supposed to be a great wrestling match thus making it a stipulation match (which is nesessary because theres no way Vince can put on a wrestling clinic) takes away from that IMO

at WM15?nah.
Austin vs Rock was THE ticket.Austin was the man and after being screwed repeatedly since Sept 98 it was his time to get back on top.anything else would have been a shocking anti-climax and Vince knew this.

No St Valentines Day massacre was perfect timing for Austin/Vince, no need to waste austin like that for a Mania
