Did anyone else watch it on Channel 4 on Thursday night? I really enjoyed it, i haven't usually liked any of Gervais' series but I really liked Derek, was funny and emotional during the ending of it  One thing about it I didn't like is Karl Pilkington can't act for shit....which makes Idiot Abroad better I suppose. Ricky Gervais is apparently writing a full series of Derek, i'll definitely be watching it |

I thought it was good. Karl Pilkington just played himself.
Defo hope it gets a series.

I didn't like it that much at all. Pilkington was the only part I liked if I'm honest, I wanted a comedy show, not a drama type show.

I don't get why alot of people don't like Gervais's work, I loved it. Karl was easily the best. I'm sure they just gave him a situation and let him say anything he wanted.

I loved it... it had quite a bit of pathos and Ricky and Karl were both great. Hopefully it'll get a full series.

couldn't finish it. I  ing love everything Gervais does (bar his shitty hollywood movies), but I didn't find it remotely funny. I think my biggest gripe was his character in it. He always plays himself, so when I saw him as Derek I just saw Ricky Gervais with a slightly off voice and odd haircut. Definitely would have benefited from someone else playing the lead... and actually play it well. Setting was also TOO mundane. It worked in the office because of all the vibrant characters, but every character in Derek were ridiculously depressing. Missed the mark both in terms of comedy and drama for me. Maybe I'll give it another go some other time, but I got to the halfway point on 4OD and felt I was wasting my time. |

Much more emotional than I was expecting, was only half watching but I enjoyed it, will have to give it a second viewing.

I watched that. Wasn't too bad, but I think they could do better than that, to be fair for me to says.
