Dana just broke the news via Twitter. Wow. This is huge.

...so they're not waiting until the NSAC meeting on Tuesday? Doesn't sound good for Overeem's future in the company... I wonder if something else has happened/been brought to light... it was only a week or so ago that Dana said Cain Vs Mir would definitely happen (...wonder who Cain will fight now?)

Mir was really the only logical option to challenge JDS, even if I do think he'll get demolished.

Nice!! Should be a tremendous fight!! Man, what an idiot Overeem is...I can't believe it....He just blew perhaps his ONLY shot at the UFC Heavyweight title. I hope it was worth it....

Yeah, I could have just updated the thread, but whatever I guess. No big deal.
I think everyone knew this would happen anyway.

I think everyone knew this would happen anyway. Well, I think for Overeem fans, they held out whatever shred of hope there was for his "B" sample, but I guess in the end, even that couldn't help him at that point. The damage was clearly done and nothing could repair it. I just don't understand these fighters sometimes....Do they honestly think they won't get caught?? Overeem screwed up HUGE, probably more-so than any other fighter in recent history. I wonder what his suspension will be, if any....

Even Overeem fans knew he was ed. The B sample would have just taken more time away from the NSAC and it would have turned out the same result. He probably won't be suspended. He didn't even have a license.

Caron is expected to come back late this year, he had a back surgery. It's easy to forget that, though, since there hasn't been much talk of him lately. Also, he came back to face Dos Sants in his last fight and took a vicious beating. Carwin needs to jump back into the pool we his back is healed, and do it against a top 10 or near top 10 guy, but not against Cain. Just my call.

More on the Overeem situation -
* UFC president Dana White cited scheduling pressure and a lack of confidence in Alistair Overeem's ability to gain licensure from the Nevada state athletic commission in an upcoming hearing as the main causes for pulling the Dutch heavyweight from a proposed UFC 146 championship fight pairing with Junior dos Santos.
White said he had not spoken to Overeem or anyone from his team before making the decision to replace him with Frank Mir.
"Anybody who knows anything about the pay-per-view business knows we're way past the deadline," he said. "We've got to run with it, and I wasn't feeling too optimistic."
White said the UFC 146 lineup will be shuffled with "a bunch of guys" being switched around.
Obviously, right now, Cain Velasquez is opponent-less after Mir was removed from his matchup. Victorious UFC 145 heavyweight Travis Browne threw his name into the hat, saying "I'm ready," when asked if he would take a bout on short notice.
As far as Overeem goes, he'll still face NSAC on Tuesday and try to explain why he had a testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio of 14:1 during a recent test, far above the allowed 6:1 limit.
White said he had no new information about Overeem's defense, but with mounting pressure to finalize a fight, as well as a personal feeling that Overeem's licensing request would be denied, the decision was made to scrap the fight.
Should he fail to gain a license, Overeem could face a tenuous future in the UFC, as White said there was "no way in hell" the UFC would schedule him in another state or country for whatever period of time NSAC asks him to wait before re-applying. He also wouldn't rule out cutting the former Strikeforce champ.
"We'll see what happens," he said. "I don't know."

Well, it's hardly a surprise - but Overeem's licence request has been denied by the NSAC... the soonest he can re-apply is December. It's all such a shame.
