I've just received a WM26 Avatar Rey figure from a US ebayer. Its an awesome figure, one of my favourite Reys (god knows theres a ton to choose from ) Now its got a black mark on its chin, like a beauty spot. It wont clean off or scrape off, looks maybe like a paint mark. What is the best way to cover this up/remove it - its so bloody annoying its all I see when I look at it. I only want a quick patch up, not bothered about getting a professional finish to it, just some way of it looking normal. I've covered white marks up on other figs just using a felt pen and it has done a good enough job for me, but with this being black it needs something else. Suggestions please. Excuse the blurry pic, best my phone could do!

Cheers.
I've never used acetone before. How would I use it?
Am I at risk of taking off the rest of the paint around the mark with it.
Whats the best method?

Acetone works great, but be careful as it's very strong in potency. Use a q-tip and just slightly dab that exact spot and it will come off, just really try not to let it hit any of the mask as the paint could come off, but its location seems simple enough that you won't hit it if you take your time.

Thanks. So it won't take off the skin color paint?

I get new figures all of the time with small black marks right out of the pack. The best thing to try first is a magic eraser. Just rub it gently after wetting the white side of the sponge and it usually takes the marks off easily.
My son plays with figures and gets lots of paint rubs on them. I can usually get most of those off for him to make them look new.

If I get a figure that has a small paint mark on it like that - and it's original factory paint that just got where it shouldn't be - I usually just take a very sharp X-acto knife and just barely scrape at it until it's gone and leaves no mark on the figure. Works every time for me.
Acetone is more of a "shotgun" method since it's liquid, and could easily remove paint that you want to keep. It's also highly toxic.

Does nail polish remover work? What about rubbing alcohol?

I've not tackled fixing my Rey figure yet, but after reading some comments on here I tried sorting a couple of my sons figures that have bits of paint transfer on them from playing.
I tried an eraser/rubber and it worked a treat, came straight off.

The skin on Rey figure heads is painted on, as the plastic used for the head is the same as the mask color, so if you use acetone or anything of the sort, a black dot will be the least of your worries.

As I was reading this I was starting to get worried somebody wasn't going to say this. Everybody chanting acetone! acetone! acetone! was going to end with the op posting an update where his Rey has a big blue spot under his lip .
