PWInsider.com is reporting that the current program between Punk and Bryan is expected to continue through the No Way Out PPV, at which point a new contender is expected for Punk.
As of now, Cody Rhodes is being considered for a title feud with CM Punk following the conclusion of Punk's feud with Daniel Bryan.

Would love to see the two go at it over the belt, but I don't know If I could see Rhodes taking it just yet. I'd love to see him fued with someone big before he gets thrown at Punk. I worry him losing first time round would just kill his momentum.

there is no friggin way Cody Rhodes is beating CM Punk for the WWE title. Ever. I'll be extremely surprised if Cody EVER becomes WWE champion.
That being said....I would thoroughly enjoy a feud between Punk & Cody and I absolutely LOVE the fact the WWE is trying to book feuds around Punk being champion.
Now if they would stop putting the entire focus of RAW on Cena & his storylines.....

I think it would be great as Cody should be in the main event. However, that said, he cannot jump into it from where he is now. Its a shame, because he was built up so well and WWE has managed to pull almost every ounce of heat away from him and there is no good reason for it. Why? To get Big Show over as a face? He just turned heel. To get Christian over as a face? He's already over from returning and beating a heel with no heat doesn't help. Bless Cody, he's a great talent in the ring and on the mic, but if he's not booked to look like a legit threat, a feud with Punk (or Sheamus) will do nothing for him, except perhaps make some good matches.

Meh.. personally I think Cody is overrated and not main event material. I don't mind a Punk feud but hope to god they never put the belt on him.

So I guess if Punk feuds with Cody than Bryan doesn't win the WWE title.
That sucks but I would love for Cody to feud with Punk.
Who knows maybe he could win the belt.
I mean Punk has had it for a long time he has to lose it eventually.

Meh, I'd rather Christian remain heel and feud with Punk but I like Rhodes so I'm fine with this idea. Definitely don't see Punk losing to him though.

I don't get the obsession with Cody Rhodes. I can't get behind him at all. Totally bland, decent at best in the ring, and a very nice moonsault I must say...but he should not be in a WWE title feud. Will be a very un-interesting feud with mediocre matches.

Everyone bad mouthing Cody now will be on his dick once he's champion, guaranteed. The guys evolved and improved so much since his debut. His feud with Big Show was actually good. His in ring work and his physique are top notch. He'll be champion within the next year.

EVERYONE Bashing Cody just leave this thread now, LOL.  I'm all for everybody having their opinions, nobody is really right or wrong, BUT, I do disagree with reading that Cody is overrated & NOT Main Event material and he is far from Bland & is better than just being labelled as 'Decent' in the ring. I've been a fan since he first debued in 2007 & I feel he has been ready for the Main Event scene since about mid - late 2009. His role in Legacy & the Triple Threat match at WrestleMnia 26 just showed he's ready to hang with the top names in the business. He's very versatile in the characters he can play, from the Grooming gimmick, then to the Grotesque gimmick & he can be either very serious or very funny. He's bust his Ass both in ring & promo wise & is deserving of a main event position from round about now to somewhere early 2013 if he doesn't win a World Heavyweight or WWE Championship this year. Still think it was a bad idea to take the I.C. Title off him at Mania just to finally give Big Show a 'Mania Moment'. Big Show knows his place & pecking order in the company at this point in his career, he didn't need the I.C. Title & he didn't do anything to add credability to the I.C. Title. Cody was having a nice run & personally, the length of time he had held it from I was kinda hoping (although deep down I don't think WWE are ever gonna do it) that his reign would have surpassed The Honky Tonk Man's. Personally, the next step I would have gone with if they had have taken the Twitter antics between Cody & Santino & used that to build an on air feud, would have been to do Cody vs. Santino in a Title for Title match with Cody walking out as both I.C. & U.S. Champion, rather than having him drop the I.C. after only a month on his second reign. And finally, I think Cody & Punk will have some stellar matches & some good spots / finishes. Go Cody! |
