It's ing HILARIOUS that people thought that was a good gimmick. I died laughing when I saw him debut as Tensai.

He could come back as A-Train and his dominating monster gimmick still would have worked. Interested to see what they'll do with him.

its like others have stated, gimmicks just dont work anymore.
we live in the internet age, were people have more access to more information.
you can see who is debuting, which fed they came from, watch youtube vids of their past, see their real name, etc.
crapis just more---REAL. now more than ever, a wrestler is choosing to got out there using their real name over a character or gimmick name.
sucks for lord tensai, i can only imagine how irritated he must be with the whole ordeal.
albert should just play a bodyguard role. or the "hired gun" for the GM or whatever.

Its hard to take a wrestler serious when he is named after a penis piercing. Its hard to take a wrestler serious when he is a big white guy being called Lord Tensai and makes weird noises.
Dude has been around almost 15 years. This isn't surprising. He couldn't get over in an age where even the jobbers got enormous pops.

Not surprised in the slightest. It may change, but I'm guessing probably not.

lol Less than 2 months ago: 'I'd like/ love to see Albert/ Bernard back in the WWE, I've heard he's improved a ton over in Japan!' Fast-forward to now: 'Release him, he's a flop, he sucks.' Classic. To be fair, I believe more people are upset with the terrible, restricting gimmick he was given rather than Albert himself. I think Albert has a ton of potential and could easily make an impact, but he's not going to do it with a cheesy 80's gimmick.

I dont think the Lord Tensai gimmick was a that bad. Its just people didnt understand it every was saying he is not Japanese, but if most people listen to his back story they might have gotten it im not sure who knows. But i dont want the guy fired i think he was great in his return.

I have no problem with him as a wrestler, just couldn't get into him with that gimmick. I would rather he have just returned as an improved A-Train.
The look, mist, the nickname "Lord", all would have worked much better on an Asian wrestler. I want WWE to have their own version of The Great Muta. With the right guy it could work, unfortunately Tensai just wasn't it.

I think the gimmick could have worked if they gave him a mouthpiece and not just a guy to walk to the ring with him. If someone came out and said that yeah he used to be Albert but he was shamed out of the USA so he went to Japan to learn about honor and destruction and now he's back to dominate and he refuses to speak English or speak to the crowd because America and American fans are full of shame and have no honor. I think that could have worked.

I knew it was only a matter of time.
Working mostly Superstars and dark matches doesn't help either..

Snarky idiots ruined his run, the same vocal few that have propelled Daniel Bryan to the mainevent scene. I don't like the trend. Yeah, God forbid WWE listens to the fans and what they respond to at the shows. To be honest, "snarky idiots" were the only one that even cared about this guy. He was dead with the crowds and I'm sure a good portion of the fans now a days don't even remember him as A-Train so they couldn't care less about him. And the ones who do remember him as A-Train probably don't care about him either. The majority of his fans of his Tensai run were fans of his in Japan, and obviously the working style between Japan and WWE is very different. Tensai was a flop from the beginning.

Plain and simple, his gimmick would've worked in 1993-1994 if he were a part of the Foreign Fanatics team/stable with the Quebecers, Ludvig Borga, Yokozuna, and Evil Crush with Mr. Fuji and Jim Cornette.

I'm kind of conflicted about this report. Unlike most of you I actually enjoyed the Lord Tensai gimmick but I thought his wrestling ability just was not up to par; he looked too sloppy in the ring. I still would have preferred him over Big Show for the 1000th time, though.

^ He's juiced! As for Tensai, I don't think a repackaging is going to make a difference. He's another big guy doing big guy moves. Unless he can set himself apart on the mic like Big Show, he's probably never going to be a featured attraction.

I admit, I was excited about them re-signing him after seeing his Japan work...Now, I wish he'd stay there. He's better when he's just focusing on wrestling, and not a character.
