So the last ring I purchased was a Jakks ring about 10 years ago. It was a decent ring but was not to scale. Lately I've been contemplating purchasing a new ring and from pictures on this forum, I am quite impressed with the Mattel Elite scale ring. Looking around online however, the cheapest I've seen it is around $100. Can anyone tell me what it went for at retail? What's so special that it costs so much? Is it worth forking out a Benjamin? Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

I have one sitting in a box in a closet. I keep telling myself I will set it up and use it to display my figures, but I haven't made the room for it yet. Thing is sweet, I just need to find space.

I dont think a lot of places got them. I never saw one at TRU. Then a year or so later they popped up at Big Lots and I still never saw one (That's 3 TRU and 5 Big Lots with NO ESR)...I ended up ordering mine online and paying more then I wanted to for it.
Now its up on my classifieds page (see link in sig) for anyone that's interested.

I really love my ESR is really steady and really durable. Is a lil big but still is great. I got it for xmas gift when it came out and it cost me only 65 bucks at TRU and was the only one there and was open but i check it and was complete so i got it and wont regret it. Look around the trade board maybe you can get it cheaper

They cost a lot online because people are trying to make money... and they are no longer making them.
But if you have Big Lots in your area, it's worth taking a look. I got mine there for $20 on Black Friday. I think they are normally $30 there.

I bought two of them at Big lots for $24.99 each back in December...I was really lucky to find them. Then I saw a few more at a different Big Lots location a month later. Didn't get any more though.

My local TRU didn't carry them but an out of town TRU did and they only had 2 of them in stock. This was in Nov of 2010. My GF shelled out $60 and got it for me as an Anniversary gift. (this was our 5th Anniversary at the time, oddly enough she bought me a Jakks WM1 RSC for our 1st Anniversary. I can't wait to see what I get for our 10th... a real wrestling ring perhaps ) Granted it wasn't my money but worth every penny if it was. My local Big Lots still had one left last time I checked. Shame Mattel didn't go further with these. They blame poor sales as to why they decided to no longer make them, but 99% of the collectors I know who wanted one couldn't find one. Can't sell stuff if it isn't available... Mattel!

I know a guy hat recently got one(about a month or so ago) from Big Lots for $30. I haven't bothered to check my Big Lots as I don't really have the room for a giant ring but I might makea trip out there one day.
