Nice! This was such a good time in WWE/F. I hope you do something better with the Invasion... If I'm thinking of the right PPV, which I might be off by a mile. I'll definitely be reading.

Raw is War | 4/30/01 | Segment #1 | | Following the usual opening pyro display, the entrance music of Kurt Angle plays over the PA System. The crowd chant "you suck" to the beat of the theme song as they do, while Angle, who is looking angry makes his way to the ring. Once inside, Angle talks about how last night, Chris Benoit showed how much of a cowardly thief he is by defeating him with his own submission hold in the final seconds of their ultimate submisison match from last night. Angle says that Benoit knew the only hold strong enough to beat Angle was his own Ankle Lock and that he should sue him for gimmick infringement. Just then, Chris Benoit's theme hits and he makes his way down to the ring with a grin on his face. Once inside, Benoit raises the microphone and starts a "you tapped out" chant which the crowd oblige to chant along with. Angle angrily tries to attack Benoit only for Benoit to duck under and hit the triple german's. The third of which sent Angle over the top rope, awkwardly crashing to the padded floor below. Benoit smiles as he notices Angle's gold medals laying on the canvas. Benoit grabs the medals and walks out of the ring, making his way back to the backstage area. Angle eventually regains his bearings and is seen mouthing "Where's my medals" before being told what happened and then mouthing "That son of a b*tch" | Match #1 | Christian vs. Jeff Hardy | | A fun opening match by two men who have faced many times in several different matches over the last two years but this time, they did battle one on one. At last night's Backlash pay-per-view, Jeff Hardy attacked an interfered Edge, who tried to help Christian win the European Championship, which ultimately set this match up. The finish to the match arrived with Christian going for the Frankensteiner in the corner, only for Jeff Hardy to hold on to the turnbuckle causing Christian to simply fall to the canvas, landing in perfect position for Jeff to hit the Swanton Bomb to pick up the victory. | Jeff Hardy def. Christian via pinfall following the Swanton Bomb. | Segment #2 | | The cameras turn to the back where the commissioner of the World Wrestling Federation, William Regal is sitting in his office. Jonathan Coachman makes his way in and Regal tells him to inform Chris Jericho that tonight, for his vicious attack on the Duchess of Queensbury last night, he will be competing tonight in an environment that will take him completely out of his element. Chris Jericho will be facing Rhyno for the Hardcore Championship. | Match #2 | X Pac vs Spike Dudley | | X Pac made his way to the ring with Albert, and Justin Credible while Spike was joined by Bubba Ray, and D Von. X Pac beat down on Spike for the majority on the match before Spike began to make a comeback. Spike gained momentum and eventually went for the Dudley dog. At this point, Justin Credible jumped on the apron but the Dudley Boyz jumped him. This distracted the referee as X Pac countered the Dudley Dog by throwing Spike out of the ring. Spike was caught by Albert who hit the Baldo Bomb on the outside of the ring. Albert rolled Spike back in the ring, allowing X Pac to pick up the victory. | X Pac def. Spike Dudley via pinfall following interference from Albert. | Segment #3 | | A limo pulls up the the arena with Stephanie McMahon getting out of it. Jonathan Coachman approaches her and almost gasps at Stephanie's face, which is badly bruised from the big boot she received from Kane last night. Stephanie gives Coach an angry look and tells him that she knows Kane will be facing Steve Austin tonight, and that she'll use all her power to make sure he pays for what he did to her. | Segment #4 | | Kane is seen in the medical office, getting his arm iced and taped up. It is still a dark purple colour from the chair and hammer shots he took from Steve Austin & Triple H last night. Undertaker walks in to the room and asks Kane if he's sure he wants to go out there tonight, and Kane says he's fine. | Match #3 | Hardcore Championship: Rhyno© vs Chris Jericho | | Commissioner William Regal joined the commentator's table for this match that he announced early to get some payback on Chris Jericho. Jericho started the match strong, only for Rhyno to gain back match control following a trash can lid to the head. Regal laughed on commentary as Rhyno continued the assault, hitting a running powerslam on the trash can itself. Rhyno hooked the leg but only got the two count. The match continued with Jericho gaining back control, getting in to the hardcore element himself but the finish to the match arrived with Edge & Christian making their way to ringside and distracting Jericho. Jericho turned around only to be gored by Rhyno, who hooked the leg to pick up the three count. | Rhyno def. Chris Jericho to retain the Hardcore Championship via pinfall following the Gore. | Segment #5 | | Stephanie McMahon is making her way through the corridors through the backstage area when she bumps in to former soon-to-be-husband, Test. Test grins at the bruise on Stephanie's face and she verbally attacks him for not only laughing at her but also getting involved in family business last night, by helping Shane defeat Big Show in the last man standing match. Test says while he respects Shane, he's glad things worked out the way it did cause he'd hate to wake up to Stephanie every morning. Stephanie slaps Test and storms off, but Test only grins. | Match #4 | Jerry Lynn vs K Kwik | | Jerry Lynn captured the Light Heavyweight Championship last night in his world wrestling federation debut. defeating the then champion, Crash Holly. It helped that Paul Heyman was on commentary tonight, putting over Lynn's ECW work, making him seem like a big name. Lynn and K Kwik had a fun fast paced short match here with the eventual finish showing Lynn counter a chain wrestling hold in to the Cradle Piledriver to pick up the victory. Following the bell, Jerry Lynn got on the microphone and put down the Light Heavyweight divison, calling it a joke when wannabe rappers are considered top contenders. Jerry Lynn says he will be a fighting champion, but that will mean nothing if the competition isn't good enough. | Jerry Lynn def. K Kwik via pinfall following the Cradle Piledriver. | Segment #6 | | The Chairman of World Wrestling Federation, Vince McMahon and his daughter Stephanie are introduced to the ring. Once inside, Vince gets on the microphone and talks about how last night, Triple H and Steve Austin captured the WWF Tag Team Championships from Kane & The Undertaker. Vince says that not all was good news from last night and points to his daughter, Stephanie’s face, showing the bruises by her mouth where Kane delivered the big boot. Vince also brings up the fact that Test got involved in business that doesn’t concern him by helping his “no good son” defeat Big Show in the Last Man Standing match. Not only that but he heavily insulted his daughter Stephanie earlier tonight and because of such, will compete next against “his one true son” Triple H. Suddenly, the entrance music of CEO, Linda McMahon plays across the PA System and she appears on the titantron. She says that it’s quite obvious, Vince has given Kane a WWF Championship match tonight because of his weakened state and because of such, she is taking him out of the title match. Linda then adds that she knows Steve Austin is a fighting champion and will still want to defend the title tonight so in Kane’s place will be his brother, The Undertaker. Vince and Stephanie look outraged in the ring as Linda tells Stephanie that she got nothing more than she deserves when Kane kicked her right in the face. | Match #5 | Triple H vs Test | | As Test made his way to the ring, he was attacked from behind by Big Show. Triple H grinned from the ring as Big Show continued his assault outside of the ring, irish whipping him hard in to the steel steps. The attack continued as Show grabbed Test by the throat and delivered a choke slam through the announce table. At this point, several referee’s make their way to ringside to get Big Show away from Test. During this time, the “Big Red Machine” Kane made his way to the ring with a heavy chain in hand. Kane swung the chain at Triple H who saw at the last moment and ducked. Triple H retreated from the ring and up the entrance ramp, with Kane in hot pursuit. | Triple H vs Test never officially started following interference from Big Show. | Segment #7 | | The Undertaker is being interviewed backstage by Jonathan Coachman about the last minute opportunity given to him by Linda McMahon to challenge for the WWF Championship. The Undertaker says that last night, Triple H and Steve Austin stole their tag team championships so tonight will bring him some peace to get justice and win the WWF Championship from Steve Austin. Undertaker says that it doesn’t matter to him whether it was Kane or himself, all that matters is knocking them two corporate suckups down a peg or two. | Match #6 | European Championship: Matt Hardy© vs Edge | | Matt Hardy’s European Championship is on the line for the second time in two days, this time in singles action against long-time rival, Edge. The two men had an exciting back n forth match filled with counters and high risk action, but when it all came down to it, Jeff Hardy and Christian caused the finish to the match. Christian made his way out first shortly after a referee bump, his intent on helping Edge capture the European Championship. This backfired when Christian went for his partner’s spear, only for Matt Hardy to move out of the way, causing Christian to hit it on Edge. At this time, Jeff Hardy ran down to the ring and clotheslined Christian and himself over the ropes, crashing to the outside of the ring. Edge slowed got back up to his feet, only to fall victim to the Twist of Fate, allowing Matt Hardy to pick up the victory. | Matt Hardy def. Edge to retain the European Championship following the Twist of Fate | Segment #8 | | Kurt Angle is making his way through the backstage area, calling out for Chris Benoit. He bumps in to fellow Team RECK members, Edge & Christian and asks them if they’ve seen Benoit. Edge & Christina are still arguing over what just took place in the ring and said that they don’t know where he is and quite frankly they don’t care. Angle rather comically adds that if they’re helping Benoit because of the whole Canadian connection, then they’re in serious trouble, and wonders off. | Match #7 | WWF Championship: Steve Austin© vs The Undertaker | | With not long on the clock for the show, it was quite clear something was going to happen to cause a quick finish to the championship match, and so it did. As soon as the bell rang, Undertaker pounced forward to go on the attack only for Steve Austin to kick him right in the groin. The referee called for the bell, but Austin simply grinned demanded his WWF Championship. Undertaker got up to his feet, still in pain but was knocked back down to the canvas when Austin hit ‘Taker in the head with the championship belt. Just then, Kane’s pyro goes off in the ring as the monster himself makes his way down the entrance ramp with the same heavy chain in hand. Steve Austin retreats from the ring, and jumps the crowd barricade as Raw goes off the air with Kane checking on his older brother. | The Undertaker def. WWF RAW is WAR: Monday 30th April 2001...A decent opening promo to start the show with Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit, very nice to continue their feud along the lines that it did in real life, with Benoit stealing the medals of Angle. Oh yeah, a quick note; Angle wasn't being chanted "You suck" at until this time next year. Up first, decent crowd-pleasing opener with Jeff Hardy picking up the win against Christian, not much to comment on here. Interested in how this Chris Jericho vs Rhyno match will go down, undoubtably not so good for Y2J. X-Pac beating Spike Dudley was fine but only got X-Factor over, not a lot to comment on again here. A baldo bomb on the outside? That sounds a little painful, especially for Albert. Nice to see you still playing up the big boot to Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley last night. Rhyno beating Chris Jericho to retain the WWF Hardcore Championship was expected, surprised to see Edge and Christian cost him the match. Nice little bump segment with Stephanie McMahon walking into Test. Please give Test a push, here was a good opportunity. Jerry Lynn and K-Kwik on RAW? Eh, these guys weren't really over at all. Would have put it on SmackDown! myself. Lynn with mic-time on RAW? Oh God no. Prestige to the light-heavyweight division sounds good though. Vince McMahon in the ring to kick off the show was good, but where is Stone Cold Steve Austin tonight? The WWF Champion needs air-time, as opposed to having title matches changed without him saying a word. Triple H and Test not going anywhere was the right call, Big Show's attack was cool. What I'm not liking at this point is the lack of Shane McMahon, or mention of his match with the Big Show last night including monster bump Shane did off of the stage (aside from the McMahons' promo). Can't see the Undertaker taking the WWF Championship tonight. Matt Hardy retaining the WWF European Championship was expected, dissension with Edge and Christian? Please keep them together, such a good tandem. At least not yet, anyway. Liked more interaction with Kurt Angle in search of Chris Benoit. And lastly, chaotic finish to RAW with Stone Cold Steve Austin, the Undertaker, Kane and Triple H. Overall, a decent episode, and a good start, but I'm thinking it wasn't too notable. Storyline-wise, there was only three matches that benefitted. Others, such as Lynn/Kwik, X-Pac/Spike and possibly Christian/Jeff, didn't serve too much purpose. Another thing is the lack of half of the roster. There wasn't any Dudleys tonight, and no air-time for Austin either. Bit odd, but hoping for improvements with SmackDown!. Also, liking the layout; differentiate the shows though, give RAW a red color coding on the match/segment headers, SmackDown! a nice blue. Just so the casual reader gandering through can make sense of what show it is without reading the plain black size=1! Lastly, make this LAST. It could easily be my favourite diary in just a few weeks of shows.
