Though I've been looking forward to this movie, I actually expected people to hate it. Surprisingly, I'm reading a lot of early good reviews. Even has a decent (albeit early) rating on Rotten Tomatoes. same here.I mean Raimis Spidey movies were all Box Office monsters and pretty fresh with the movie going public.I expected spiteful derision for this from the get go.

Seeing it Tuesday. I have such missed emotions. On one hand I want it to do well because I love Spiderman. But on the other I want Marvel Studios to get the rights back.
And I'm still iffy on the suit. But I plan on going in with an opened mind.

I'm excited about it. I've been watching the Raimi trilogy to gear up for it. Hadn't watched 1 and 2 in years, I still loved them just as much as I did back then. Preparing to watch 3 tonight, which I remember absolutely nothing about. I haven't seen it since it was in theaters.
I'm still a little put off by the whole idea of rebooting the franchise just five years after Spider-Man 3, but it is what it is.
I'm like Andrew Garfield, and I'm a huge fan of Emma Stone and Marc Webb, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Going to see it in IMAX 3D at Midnight. Looking forward to the movie. I loved the last set of movies, and at first I wasn't sure about this one, but after I saw the IMAX 3D trailer with The Avengers, I was sold on at least giving it a shot.

I keep reading theyre trying t make a deal, to get Spiderman in Avengers 2 If they're still trying to get a deal done to get Spider-man in the next Avengers, then I highly doubt there's anything Avengers related in the movie. Besides, I don't think Avengers 2 needs Spider-man. The first one was so successful that adding another hero just isn't necessary and could be risky.

Well, on the chance of Spidey in The Avengers, I'm going to run out and buy some Depends.
...I'd like to be prepared when I **** my pants.

Yeah, I don't really see how there could be any reference made to The Avengers if Spider-Man's inclusion isn't a done deal. It has been said that there is a hint toward the villain for the sequel, though.
I might be pretty much alone in this, but I don't really care about seeing Spider-Man in a future Avengers movie. I think the Spider-Man universe does fine on its own.

I keep reading theyre trying t make a deal, to get Spiderman in Avengers 2 No chance at all, Spider-Man is a Sony property in perpetuity as long as they continue to make movies. Spider-Man never really crossed over into Avengers that often anyways, so it wouldn't make much sense to have him in there.

The Avengers was at one point going to include a reference to The Amazing Spider-Man, according to a report.
Worst Previews cites production sources claiming that Sony and Marvel Studios collaborated on a building design for the Joss Whedon-helmed blockbuster.
The report claims that Sony submitted a design for the Oscorp building from Marc Webb's Spider-Man reboot for use in the Manhattan skyline depicted in The Avengers.
Marvel was allegedly keen to include the structure in the film, but the timing did not work out and the idea was scrapped.
The news has given rise to speculation that Spider-Man could potentially feature in a future Avengers sequel, despite two different studios owning the screen rights to the properties.
It follows comments from Amazing Spider-Man producer Avi Arad, who claimed that an on-screen crossover between the two series is indeed "possible".
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That is what is kinda making me think there could be something Avengers related in the movie.
Even if it just 10 seconds of Nick Fury reading a newspaper with Spiderman on the cover.

According to HeyUGuys, the OsCorp Industries facility, set to appear in The Amazing Spider-Man (you can see a new clip of Emma Stone inside the building, here, too) was possibly going to appear in shots of the Manhattan skyline in The Avengers. Unfortunately, the idea was ultimately scrapped as a result of timing issues. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ That is what is kinda making me think there could be something Avengers related in the movie. Even if it just 10 seconds of Nick Fury reading a newspaper with Spiderman on the cover. But Spider-Man does not crossover in the comics with the Avengers team from the movie, or at least it never happened in any significant fashion. Spider-Man crossed over into X-Men a few times, and had a few stories with Fantastic 4, but I don't think he ever did anything of significance involving the Avengers. It just wouldn't make sense to put it in the movie.

The only thing I can really think of that he did involving The Avengers was being a part of the "New Avengers". Either way, I think it would be neat to see a cameo. Nothing too entirely plot consuming. If any of the characters from The Avengers meet up with Spiderman, I'd hope it would be in a massive Secret Wars movie series. When I say series, I'm talking divide it up into (at least) 2 movies ala the last Potter book or the upcoming Hobbit movie. If that happens, I don't see it being anytime soon though.

I wouldn't mind seeing him in an Avengers movie, but I can certainly live without it.

Perhaps I am too much of a comic book purist, maybe even too a fault, but I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hated this movie.
SPOILERS
To start, the story deviates waaaaay too far from the comics, although my buddy told me it was more closely based on the Ultimate Spider-Man comic, which I don't read because I won't read crap. Spider-Man spend half the freakin movie with his mask off! What the hell is the point of having a secret identity?! The Lizard looks like a reject from Super Mario Brothers the Movie. The final scene where the police captain is SHOOTING THE LIZARD WITH A GUN is so unbelievably awful I almost couldn't believe what I was seeing. The dialog was bad, laughably so, there were parts of this that literally felt like they had been penned by a five year old. The movie took way to long to get going, and once it got there, it most seemed as though they didn't know where to go next. I'm not especially familliar with Emma Stone, but I don't feel she was particularly attractive, something about her just looks odd. The kid playing Peter Parke was not impressive at all either.
That all being said, if you are unfamilliar with the source material, and don't care, I could see how someone might like this film, and that's where I think all the positive critical reviews are coming from. It's got a lot of action, good special effects, and a good story. As a comic book fan however, I can't in good conscience reccomend this, it was just a mess. Please Sony, just let the character revert back to Marve so someone who actually understands the character and the story can handle it properly.

I personally loved it, I thought the chosen title was very appropriate, "Amazing". I felt it was a MUCH better depiction of Spider-Man than the Raimi/Tobey films were.
And I (also a "comic purist", especially with Spider-Man), definitely DO recommend this, and hope it is never handed off to this Marve fellow. Andrew Garfield is a damn fine Peter Parker, and I couldn't have been happier with his performance.
--And MaxMoves, if you won't read Ultimate Spider-Man on the reason of not reading "crap", I'd like to know where you've jumped to this conclusion and where you've based this judgment from if you HAVEN'T read it. Bendis has done some wonderful writing in both the Peter and Miles stories, and the Spider-Men crossover, while only being two issues in, is written very very well.
