WWE RAW 1000: Monday 23rd July 2012...Cool call sticking with Vince McMahon opening the show to introduce us to RAW prior to that awesome video package. Piper's Pit was a good way to kick things off, and I liked that he interviewed CM Punk. Not only that, but it continued the focus on SummerSlam and the future of the WWE Championship scene. The Bret Hart introduction was quite good, Piper seems very out of here hahaha. Daniel Bryan's interruption was great and his objection to Bret, Roddy and Punk's promo. An Ironman match? Good luck with booking that, I can see the Los Angeles crowd not buying Punk and Bryan competing for a full sixty minutes whilst keeping the crowd entertained throughout. But it is a great method to determine who the better man is. It also solidifies itself as THE main event at SummerSlam. Mick Foley as the RAW General Manager was a good call; Dean Ambrose debut coming? Eh, the Winged Eagle WWE Championship. They would never go back to that title design, but nevertheless, good story here. I didn't like the quotations before, but this went on a bit too long for my liking. It's why I've always been a paragraph guy, it's a lot shorter, easier and cleaner to read. The Primetime Players winning the WWE Tag Team Championships was a good move, I didn't think Kofi Kingston and R-Truth were that great as a pairing really. I love that it's Michael Cole playing the Bobby Heenan role 1000 episodes later, being thrown out of the building and all. Ryback beating Gillberg was cool, liked that touch. Good first-hour main event with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line, although I am waiting for a rematch at SummerSlam with Sheamus, Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio. The clean finish sort of damaged the feud though, in my eyes. Haha, sticking to the Brothers of Destruction reuniting segment. Didn't like that Cody Rhodes associated himself with the undercard talents though, it just hurt him. Antonio Cesaro winning the WWE United States Championship was expected, but I'd have waited until SummerSlam to pull the trigger and had Santino Marella retain tonight. Up next, decent promo with Shawn Michaels, Triple H and Brock Lesnar. I liked the mentioning of the Undertaker never beating Brock; I'm sure that's a nod to the future. I liked the lead up to Lesnar destroying Shawn Michaels, too. I wonder when he'll finally announce the match for SummerSlam. Vader winning the Old School battle royal was cool but I doubt they'd do it really. I don't think Dean Malenko would be well enough to compete, either. Heath Slater's segment gave everything closure in my mind. Stone Cold Steve Austin returned, ended the Legends angle for Slater, provided entertainment and closed off the Cole in the arena angle. Very nice. The Rock, John Cena and CM Punk as expected won the main event, beating Big Show, Daniel Bryan and the Miz. I'm glad that Miz retained, but I'd have returned him in a more noticeable way. Great that Rock gave Punk the Rock Bottom, it could lead to Punk's next big angle. Overall, a bit overkill, and you're going to have to work hard to make SummerSlam look as good, but good job on this show.

RAW 1000: - First off, you know you've made it when WWE blocks your video for copyright reasons. - Okay, first off that was one crazy ass way to start off this big RAW. I mean Piper, Bret, Foley, Punk and Bryan in one segment? Now that's something that would get a big Yes! (sorry, I couldn't resist) from me. I like Foley as the new general manager, I think he probably should have taken Booker's spot on SmackDown to start with. - I'm not completely sold initially on the iron man match for a pay per view like Summerslam because it really limits what you can do in terms of other matches, but at the same time I really love the idea of Punk / Bryan getting that kind of time and it's the kind of match that could really define what you're trying to do in this diary. - A little throwback to Bobby Heenan with the Michael Cole segment eh? Absolutely love it. - Great win for the Prime Time Players and it's good to see the belts finally on them. Makes sense considering Kofi needs to be pushed for the briefcase to mean anything. A feud with Truth could do that, and it'll be interested in seeing which of the two you turn. - Ryback against... Gillberg? I get why you did it but can't say I'm a fan of it being done. - Big win for Sheamus over Del Rio and Mysterio here, obviously the right call to make even if I'd like to see Del Rio get a credible title run sometime soon. Jericho's back, nice. A feud between Jericho and Sheamus should just be awesome if done properly. Maybe Jericho can finally win the title he deserves. - Pretty copycat Brothers of Destruction segment here albeit with Cody Rhodes leading the charge. Not bad, but nothing spectacular in my eyes. - Cole posing as Vince McMahon? Gold, pure gold. - Love Cesaro taking the United States Championship here, definitely a bigger stage than the youtube pre-show. Hopefully you can make the title look serious now. - Solid segment with Lesnar, Michaels and Triple H, having Lesnar attack Michaels this early into the feud works a lot better in my mind since it makes things more personal. Can't wait to see what you do with these two heading into Summerslam. - A lot of awesome stars in the battle royal, could have easily gone with someone else winning it though. Vader was just too obvious. - Great segment with Austin, would have loved to have actually seen this at RAW 1000. Nice finish to the Michael Cole segment as well. - I know that it's got The Rock in it, but this really didn't feel like the kind of main event a show like this deserved, certainly not on the level we actually got with Punk / Cena. And Rock standing tall over CM Punk to end the show just makes Punk look weak to me, especially since he's meant to be feuding with Bryan. Unless there's some payoff coming from this segment I really didn't enjoy it. - Good show overall, some stuff here and there I didn't enjoy, some stuff I loved. It's enough to keep me reading though, so keep it up.

SmackDown: - Solid opening segment to set up a pretty big main event. The obvious choice to win this one is Jericho of course but that doesn't really detract from it. - Another solid win for Cesaro here, but not sold on the idea of Sin Cara challenging for the belt. To me a guy who can't physically cut a promo is going to struggle to make a storyline worth watching. - Another obvious Ryback win, but at least it got Drew some television time, and possibly set up a feud, even if it is one that he can't win. - Nice to see Gabriel & Kidd getting a push in the tag division, they've been criminally underused and have all the potential to be the top team in the company if they're used properly. - Cody getting himself disqualified like that is a good way to build him up some heat, especially when he's just beat down on a guy like Kane. I'm not sure whether I like the Cody / Kane feud, just struggling to get into it for some reason, but you're booking it well enough. - Loved the Sandow snapping angle, especially since it's obviously leading into a Christian / Sandow feud which should be terrific. - As I said at the top Jericho was the obvious victor here, but that doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to it, you could pull out a really entertaining feud with these two. I'm guessing we'll be getting Mysterio vs. Del Rio part who cares anymore as well? - A decent show, but it seemed a bit bare of segments overall which wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't so noticeable.

Kane took it to Cody as Sheamus fought back against Jericho and the faces cleared the ring. *We cut backstage to see David Otunga walk in Mick Foley's office. Otunga starts talking about how good of a person John Laurinaitis is and how it would be wrong to send him packing. Otunga says he gives his person recommendation to keep Mr. Laurinaitis on board, mentioning that he's graduated from Harvard Law and his recommendation should count for a lot. Foley says Otunga's recommendation is so important that Foley's decided to give him a match...NEXT. Punk battled back and forth with the Miz for most of the match and it seemed like he needed that one burst of adrenaline to finally put the Miz away. Punk did just that with a perfectly executed elbow followed by the GTS. After the match Punk got on the microphone and called out the Rock again, much like he did early. Punk waited for a bit but was blindsided from behind by Daniel Bryan! Bryan put the boots to Punk and locked Punk in the Yes Lock, holding Punk right near his WWE Championship. Bryan screamed at Punk to look at the belt and told Punk that Daniel Bryan is better than the Rock. Bryan finally let the hold go and stood over Punk as RAW came to a close and Bryan stared down towards the fallen WWE Champion and his belt.
