There are a few essential guys from the late 80s, early 90s that really stick out to me. Hogan, of course, Andre, Savage, Jake "the Snake" and Ted Dibiase. Seeing as we won't get a Hogan any time soon and we've gotten Legends of the other 3...I think $MDM$ is due.
The fact that Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase was not included in the first 5 waves of the Legends line is beyond me. I know he had an Entrance Great, but in my collecting world, it might as well have been non existent, as I don't collect basics. If there was a Legend MDM, I'd at least grab an EG of him, just for the suit. But the fact that we got an Akeem and a Kamala before one of the best heels in WWF's history is crazy to me. I'm sure the reasoning for not doing him was that they've already done the EG MDM or that EG didn't sell well, but seriously, if you make it correctly the first time, it will sell very well. I'm still holding hope for a next round of Legends on Matty...And no...If a Legends MDM is made, the argument for a Legends Virgil needs to stop here. As Iron Sheik would say, "F*** the Virgil". I don't need another jobber filling up precious spots.
As for HBK. We've gotten The Rockers. We've gotten the basic 95 Royal Rumble. We've gotten Entrance Greats WM 12 Shawn. We've Gotten a DM Wrestlemania 25 Michaels. This is my gripe. With each HBK release...they get it wrong. Maybe they're building something up. But with the Legends Rockers, we may not see another Legends HBK. With the basic 95 HBK, that rules out an elite Shawn Michaels in his early-mid 90s heel run. With the EG Shawn, that rules out the face Shawn of the mid 90s. And of course with DM and the Elite 3 and 7, current Shawn is sealed up. So, that means a Flashback HBK is all that we've got left, and if my calculations are correct...it would be the DX HBK of 97-98. Now I Would LOVE LOVE LOVE a DX Elite Shawn. That thing would sell through the roof. No doubt about that. But I can't help but feel slighted in not getting an elite WM 12 Shawn. And no damn pony tail. I like the after match look with the hair down. Or not getting an elite WM 10 Shawn. But, if I can't have either of those, a DX Shawn from 97 would be the cream of the Shawn Michaels Mattel crop.

It is a shame that DiBiase has been skipped. Especially knowing that he's been signed. I know Mattel will say "Well he was in the fan vote" but still, he could have/would have sold better then a lot of the figures released in the first 6 retail series. DiBiase was one of the top names through the 80s. Skipping him just makes me wonder if Mattel Exec actually did watch wrestling back then or if they just Youtube stuff.

I totally agree that M$M needs a Elite. The guy was class and is one of the biggest heels in the history of the profession!

I agree that we should've had an Elite M$M by now. I disagree about Virgil, if we get Dibiase I'd eventually like a Virgil figure too. Granted there are a LOT of guys I want to see figures of before him. But to me, a Dibiase without Virgil is like a Heenan family without Bobby or a Honky Tonk Man without Colonel Jimmy.

There's a big problem too with the Matty vote. I think people get a little carried away with what they want in regards to "Legends". And I'm sorry, but when I look back at Jakks CS, so many of those releases are not Classic in any sense of the word. Repo Man, King Mabel, Brian Blair, hell...they even made a Shockmaster. I mean, Shockmaster is a hilarious moment, but to make a figure of it!? Sure those guys were relevant for a few months, and it's nice to acknowledge the fact you've seen a few matches of theirs, but in no way do I see King Mabel and go, "OH MY GOD! YES! Mabel! I loved him so much, I was such a huge Mabel fan, I have to have an action figure of him from that era."
That's like going 10-15 years in the future and people of the WF community campaigning for a Eugene Legend. Or a Maven, Mark Jindrak, Zach Gown or Test legend. If you actually watched them, in their prime it wasn't all that great. But then you've got the guys who want EVERY single guy on the roster in their collection, the completist. Or there's the person who thrives on the attention of at least acknowledging jobbers from the past to bolster their wrestling watching reputation. "I would love a Maestro Flashback!! What about a P.N. News Flashback!? Oh man, I gotta have a D-Lo Brown Legend C'mon Mattel!!" No to all of those. 1000 times.
Compare that to Savio Vega being in the Matty vote. A Savio Vega legend!?! Are you kidding me? Nobody bought a Savio Vega BCA even when he was on TV every week, how are you gonna sell a Savio Vega Legend!? Just because he existed 15-20 years ago doesn't constitute the status of "Legend". And that's where all the fan boys get nutty. Granted, I don't think Mattel would make a figure they didn't think they could turn a profit on. So believe me, Savio Vega is on the outs. We need Flashbacks and Legends of guys with actual "Legend" credentials like "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase and Jerry "The King" Lawler. I understand Mattel wants to be different from Jakks with their variety, but there's only so much you can do before you have to hit the basics.

It's the real major stars that would support this kind of line, and then an occasional obscure oddball could be snuck in there...I think King Kong Bundy was even kind of a stretch to be honest, and I don't know who voted for Savio but why he was even given consideration for a slot in that initial line up is beyond me

Hehe, is buy a DLo Brown Legend. I was a fan. But I'd like him to be an elite figure. Basics suck ass.

They had an Entance Greats M$M...I'd say move on to guys they haven't yet made.

I like the EG M$M and I think the EG HBK is still one of the best figures Mattel has ever done. I get what you are saying, but there are guys that will never be made, so it could be worse. Dibiase has to be one of the easiest Elite fixups around if you have his EG figure.
As for HBK, if I were to hand pick an attire for Mattel to make of him, the E19 figure would be it. Buy two and pop that head on his EG figure and life is good since he had essentially the same look from 96-98.
