Lately, especially with Diva figures, Mattel's heads have gotten larger. This is very similar to Jakks evenutal ballon heads that become regular. Jakks started with smaller heads during the first few series of RA figures, then eventually got bigger and bigger as they attempted to add more detail. I've noticed Mattel kind of doing this lately. Certain guys have brand new scans lately that are much bigger than their original scans, yet more detailed. To name a few.. Natalya, Beth, Cena, Sheamus, Undertaker, Orton, Rhodes, Edge, HBK.. And that's just some off the top of my head lately. What do you guys think? Thoughts? Comments?

But then there are some like Swagger where the head is just way too small. Some heads are bigger as you noted though they arent really balloon head yet because that more applies when they are oversize.

I dont really see anything wrong with their heads but who knows they might just screw up just like JAKKS did

I'm not saying the heads are too big right now, but this is EXACTLY the path Jakks took to the eventual balloon heads. I said very early on that this would happen when Mattel felt the need to add more detail to there headsculpts.

While I agree with you, they def have been getting bigger & more detailed, and could be on the path to balloon heads, as of right now for the most part they are tolerable. I was thinking this also, that some guys have gotten noticeably larger heads than their predecessor....Cena, Miz, Jinder (most ballon headlike IMO), Orton, ADR. Hopefully tho, they don't blow up any bigger.

I said very early on that this would happen when Mattel felt the need to add more detail to there headsculpts. Oh right, gotcha. Yeah jakks definitely followed this path and it became unbearable. Im hoping mattel dont head this way though. Jakks changed to that reddish plastic and perhaps they needed the sculpts to be bigger to retain the detail in that particular plastic because it reacts differently in manufacture when its heated compared to say the plastic mattel is using. Mattels heads are a good size so hopefully they dont get too sidetracked and get any bigger. I do prefer much better detail if its a tad larger than it needs to be but I guess time will tell. We've just got to rely on mattel monitoring it. They definitely said they wont go to two colour toned body parts so now they just need to keep track of the size.

I thought I was imagining it when I got a few Punks with his newest scan. Sure does look bigger but at the same time I feel Mattel heads used to be too small so it looks better now.

I haven't noticed any major problems until I got Mahal. Very noticeable.

Other than the RRH HBK which I think is because he is supposed to have that "puffy" hair. I think they are getting more detail while staying in scale. I don't think any of the heads look bigger on any of the names you mentioned. Some look "fuller", but still are correctly scaled to the bodies.

Heath Slater's head didn't get any bigger, but his face did by like 10% in his latest scan compared to his first. John Morrison's latest seemed to shrink compared to his first eerie, "doll boy" scan.
I like new expressions, but it does create a bit of a scale clash. The divas heads were sort of pea-sized before Layla/Bellas so I guess that's good inflation?

Not really noticed it to be honest with mattels, but I know what you mean about the Jakks heads.

The two I think are too large are Jinder and Layla. Jinder's looks like a cartoon character, and Layla's looks nothing like her (IMO) and bloated.

I don't think they will balloon up to Jakks-levels, and it doesn't bother me one bit.

I noticed the opposite in Macho Man. His head is too small.

Yeah, I've only noticed them being too small if anything. Except Layla, but that figure is pretty much a disaster all-round. The RSC CM Punk's head is tiny without the mask on.
