I'm actually looking forward to Silva vs Bonnar, should be a fun fight. Hope he can at least put up more of a challenge than Griffin did..

Silva opens at a reasonable -1350 over Bonnar in the betting lines. Completely reasonable.
But hey, I was/am a massive fan of PRIDE, own every event and this is the kind of fight that would kinda fit right in during the heyday.

This proves Anderson doesn't give a who he fights. He gains nothing from this. From what I hear, he called up and told Dana he couldn't fight at 185, but he'll do another 205 fight against ANYONE. Bonnar called Dana, and the match was made. Call me crazy, but I like his matchup kind of. It makes NO sense, but it's another chance to see the best guy out there, once again, outside his weight class. Both guys deserve props, in my book. Nog vs. Herman is interesting too. Nogueira is the HW that personifies BJJ, and Herman is 100% against BJJ. It'll be great to watch. GLOVER vs. MALDONADO. HOLY ! Better than Rampage, in my book.

I am happy that Bonnar is getting his mainevent fight that he wants. And I feel he has truly earned a mainevent fight at his weight class who is not a title holder. The part that pisses me off is Silva getting praised for it. He tried to duck a second Sonnen fight, he ducked a superfight with Jon Jones, and he ducked Weidman. You know, the guy who beat the number three ranked guy and the number five ranked guy back to back. All because Silvas management says that he doesn't have enough fights under his belt. I won't be ordering his PPV or going to BWW to watch simply because I'm boycotting Silva fights until he fights Weidman. Weidman got tossed into a bull crap fight with Botesch and now this.

Dana has never offered Silva the Jones fight. He has said this on ESPN radio. He says it'll eventually happen though.
I love Weidman, but I think he needs ONE more top-10 win if he wants a shot. I never ranked Munoz in the top 3. That's just crazy. I think EVERY fighter gunning for a title shot needs at leased 2 top-10 wins, but hey. That's just me. There can be exceptions.

I think, at the presser for Weidman and Munoz after the fight had taken place Dana himself said Munoz was three and Maia was 5. MMA fighting published an article stating that Weidman needed one more fight. MMA fighting stated their opinion would be he would need to fight the winner of Bisping and Stann. I think beating Botesch should be enough to get him the fight with Silva though. Strange thing is, I think if Bisping wins his fight with Stann, they will give the title fight to Bisping. Which would be only to appeal to the UK crowd i'm sure.

I've said for awhile that I think Bisping will be the first dude to get a title shot with not a single top-10 win, but if he beats Stann, I'm sure UFC will try and jump on the whole UK market again with a title fight.

Dear Stephan Bonnar, DO NOT just come straight foward. Signed, Forrest Griffin & James Irvin Lol. I love Bonnar - I hope he puts up a good fight... I can kind of see him getting "Forrest'd" though. Should be fun. And if Silva looks good again at 205 (which he probably will), I think more people will be calling for Silva Vs Jones than Silva Vs GSP... I mean, Silva's currently fighting two weight divisions above GSP. I've said for awhile that I think Bisping will be the first dude to get a title shot with not a single top-10 win, but if he beats Stann, I'm sure UFC will try and jump on the whole UK market again with a title fight. Well, Stann is ranked in the top 10 by some people/sites and Bisping is very marketable, so I wouldn't be surprised. I'd like to see him (Bisping) face someone like Tim Boetsch or Alan Belcher first though... providing he gets past Stann - which I'm not sure he will.

Well of course, but I'm sure you get my point. I myself rank Stann somewhere around 6 or 7. It would be a good win for Bisping, yes, but like I said, I tend to believe fighters need at leased 2 top 10 wins before getting shots, but I'm no promoter. Obviously from a business standpoint it would be good for the UFC to give Bisping the shot should he win against Stann IMPRESSIVELY. Weidman still has to heal up AND fight in December, so the whole timing of everything could work out in Bisping's favor. They could probably do great business in the UK if they had that fight as a headliner.
And I'm not exactly saying all this because I don't like Bisping. He's a solid fighter, but against real top-tier talent, he seems to do mediocre. That's nothing to be ashamed of though.

If Bisping finishes Stann in the same fashion that he finished Mayhem, I say he's pretty close to contention. But then again, I thought be won the Sonnen fight too.

That Sonnen fight could have gone either way, though. Sucks that was a 3-rounder.

Silva is not 'ducking' ANYBODY!
People wanted the rematch with Franklin...he did it.. fight with Henderson to unify belts...he did it.. jump up to 205...he did it.. fight a top 5 LHW...he did it.. fight Belfort..he did it.. give Sonnen a rematch...he did it..
it is just unbelievable that a guy who is undefeated in the UFC, holds multiple records, and has finished every fighter he has faced in the UFC (minus 2) gets so much criticism...it is pretty crazy.

I think the problem is people expect so much from Silva because they're so accustomed to his ability to finish fights spectacularly. When he doesn't have a highlight reel finish people criticize him. Its tough being at the top because thats when you're so open for criticism and hate from all sides. Such as being accused of ducking fights and not being as good as people make him out to be (according to Sonnen at least.) And I don't necessarily think Silva deserves it. In his 6/7 years in the UFC alone he's taken Mixed Martial Arts to heights no other fighter has been able to. He gets ppv buys not from trash talk (once again excluding the Sonnen fight) or showboating but just going out there and showing his ability.
