Honestly, he was becoming a star before he started dating Stephanie, and I'm pretty sure his whole "reign of terror" was Vince's idea. I mean, honestly, if Vince offered you the same ideas, don't tell me you wouldn't. Just why all of the hate?

I think the whole "reign of terror" is an exaggeration. There were a lot of guys who had long title reigns, positive or not. The only reason they have is because he was married to Stephanie. Which is a bs claim in the first place. I loved his run from 2000 til now to be honest. He was solidifying the title when all the big name guys were gone (Austin, Rock, Foley, etc.).; so the title meant more when he actually lost it.

During a time when both The Rock and Steve Austin had left the company and no longer filled the role as full time wrestlers, the biggest star in the company was Triple H with out doubt. He was over and he delivered in the ring and on the mic.
Triple H had 2 year period on top of the mountain as the main guy in WWE and people rather than jump on the booking team, jumped on Triple H saying he put himself over because he is married to the bosses daughter. Even though Triple H already found success and was more over when he wasn't with her.
The reality of it is was he was a proven star and for a period of time the WWE's best option, people won't accept this and always come up with a few minor petty cases about Triple H squashing people.
Funnily enough people look back on this period now and think how amazing it was, fans bitch about the current product all the time, and much like Triple H was the guy to direct your hate of, Cena and Batista soon followed. Not sure who the next target will be.

There's been HHH hatred since 2003. Now I think people are just burned out on it.

The HHHate isn't as bad as it once was but HHH still sucks lame ass. However he has actually made a few good changes since his newer upper role backstage such as the longer Title reigns for the current top Champions.

I think HHH comes across as that guy that try's way to hard to be cool. I found Edge to be the same. Plus you have the WWE constantly trying to put him on the mount Rushmore of the WWE with Hogan , HbK, Rock and Austin and he is just not on that list. So with most fans that doesn't jive which turns to hate. But I think he might do fantastic when he runs the show, because he is a total mark for the biz, and that makes him kinda of cool and endearing.

tbh I didn't mind Triple H up until around 2008. He started to get another push around there and it wasn't needed, it was time for other guys to get a run

anyone that denies HHH had an INCREDIBLE amount of creative influence that he used regularly from 2002 onwards is delusional.she is worse though,I ing despise her idiocy.

I just always felt HHH was average in the ring and average on the mic.
For being on top as long as he was there really should be more of a legacy left behind but there just isnt.
I find him incredibly bland and overrated. Always have.

I liked the fact that Triple H is able to put someone over if he is the Champion and they beat him. I do like that fact. Back in 2003 I think Triple H was scheming though with the whole Goldberg in WWE. Maybe Triple H threatened by Goldberg's fanbase. I remember watching SummerSlam 2003 with the Chamber match and my brother and I believing Goldberg would be walking out champion of the biggest ppv of the Summer. Yet Triple H walked out. Goldberg ultimately walked out of Unforgiven? as WWE Champ. Kind of killed it. So I felt back then when Triple H was still trying to remain on top he was killing competitions momentum storyline wise for his own benefit. Now, I truly believe Triple H wants whats best for the company seeing it will all be his one day.

I think the Internet hated him when he was burying former WCW guys in 2003 like Booker T, Scott Steiner, Kevin Nash, etc. That was nearly a decade ago though and pretty irrelevant now.

There was a former writer years ago who said WWE wasn't necessarily trying to put Triple H over. They were trying to build the prestige of the World title back up after Russo, Arquette, and the dieing days of wCw ruined it. And as I've said before they were obviously trying to recreate Flair's title runs from the 80's. That's why Evolution was a mirror image of the Horsemen. And that why Triple H always escaped with the title. It's not the first time a wrestling company has used a recycled recipe. And it worked cause the belt is still around today.

My problem is he burried Goldberg and Chris Jericho. The fact is Jericho was more entertaining back then, then Triple H. Goldberg was a huge star and deserved to have won the elimination chamber and hold it for a little while longer. I understand Goldberg wasn't staying long so I am fine with that. I also think HBK should have had a longer run as champion. My problem simply resolves around him having longer title reigns then most and other legends having half the amount of reigns as him.
