My girlfriend stopped at TRU on her way home today and found The Cell for me. She knew I had been searching for it, so she picked one up for me. When I got home from work tonight I opened it up and went to assemble it only to find it's missing a piece. It's missing one of the 4 corner posts that the cell walls connect to. The box hadn't been opened previously and no other pieces were missing. I'm beyond angry. You think when you spend that kind of money on something that you wouldn't get short-changed. Now, if it was a local TRU I would just take it back tomorrow and get another one. But, she was coming home from her old house which is over 4 hours away. So, I guess I just have to call Mattel and see if they can send me the piece I'm missing. Anybody ever have anything like this happen?

I called Mattel today. They don't have replacement parts and they don't have any stock to just replace the whole set. Luckily I'll be in the area where it was purchased next week so I called TRU and the manager is holding their last Cell for me. Thank the maker for the quality customer service at TRU because Mattel's is just disgraceful. They wanted me to mail the entire cell to them and then have them send me a voucher for the cost. That does me no good as I still would have had to hunt down another one.

They don't have parts for purchase. Not that I was going to pay for a part that I should have already gotten, but I hope that when I call tomorrow they're able to send me the part that I need.

You might try returning it to TRU, call them.

If Mattel can't send me the part tomorrow, I'll return it to a different TRU, but I don't know if my local one has it. Ugh.
