Cannot believe theres not a thread here, or am I missing something?
Usain Bolt just won the 100m, proving he's the most naturally gifted athlete around (possibly of all time); he's certainly the most famous, most recognised and coolest at the Olympics by a distance (Phelps second; I'd say Ennis third but maybe thats just me because she's the 'face of the games' over here). Absolute legend, deserves all the praise he gets.

I would say Phelps is the face of the Olympics....Especially over here in the states. You literally cant go to commercial without one of his Subway ads coming on. Then there are his Visa ads as well. I havent seen anything about Bolt....Ever. (Since the Olympics started) I would say its Phelps, Fab Five (gymnasts not the Michigan BBall team lol) and probably either Missy Franklin or Ryan Lochte are the top "stars". Of course, that is considering about the only thing our stations show is US stuff.

Phelps is definitely the face in the US the way that Ennis is here. But worldwide Bolt is easily the most famous and recognisable.

I went yesterday!
Won tickets to watch Women's Water Polo -> At first i didn't think it would be that good, but the atmosphere made it sooooo good! Edge of my seat stuff!
then we stayed and watched the athletics on the big screen
hundreds of thousands of people there watching, pretty special moment considering 8years ago no-one thought we would be able to pull it off!

I've probably watched more Olympics this year than as long as I can remember. Olympic star or not, Michael Phelps is a super-doofus. Sometimes it gets to be too much to bear. Other than that, though, I've seen some pretty cool stuff. The discus throwing was insane.

I've always preferred the Winter Olympics.

I'm a little surprised to hear that there are commercials on US coverage, considering that advertising is banned at Olympic events and there are zero commercials on BBC coverage. But on the other hand it's not that surprising when you see that WWE Raw is 30% commercials.

I love the summer games! My friend was supposed to have been living in London by this time last year and we had talked about me taking a vacation right now so I could visit England and see some of the Olympic Games, Track & Field, wrestling, and running events were always my favorites. Sadly, he decided to more to China for a year instead.
I know Phelps is the mainstream star right now in the US but I have been paying close attention to Bolt. Man that guy is fast and his last name is so fitting!

<3 Bolt. Hes such a lad, in terms of cocky sportsmen people love hes probably only behind Ali in the worldwide stakes. He'll be one of the most loved sportsmen in general, up there with Federer and Woods.

Bolt seems like such a cool guy. I'm not sure how I feel about his words for Carl Lewis however.
On another note, I am excited about Eaton's gold in the decathlon!

Thought the closing ceremony was great. Beady Eye and Monty Python in particular were good, had the crowd in their hands. Dunno why they chose Jessie J to sing with Queen. I didn't like Imagine but understand why it was there.

That was quite handily the best closing ceremonies to an Olympic Games that I have ever witnessed to be perfectly honest.
