Ok its well known that this match tanked and was the reason why no more WCW matches or Bagwell were featured on Raw ever again. But does anyone know what their plans for WCW Raw were if this match didnt tank and had been a success, were there going to be more WCW matches? Edit: wtf at the end of that match Why didn't Buff attack Angle/Austin if it was WWF vs WCW vice versa I was expecting Austin to stop and attack Buff when he saw him attacking Booker T

I believe the plan was to separate Raw as a WWF show and Smackdown as a WCW show. I remember if it caught on they were going to keep the two shows seperate but once the match bombed with the crowd, plans were scrapped.

This match was booked to fail. There was nothing good about it except Booker T. Bagwell is horrible, Hudson and Arn as announcers was awful. The Ring announcer was awful...Im totally convinced Vince set this up to fail

Wasn't this match part of the reason why Buff got fired? The other part being something about getting his mom to call WWE and complain?

It's laughable to me that people would actually believe WWE was going to keep WCW around, even as a secondary show.

That match should have been better.
Especially seeing as how Buff Bagwell was a perfect fit for WWF during that time. Shame.

I asked myself the same thing and didn't get what he tried to say, probably I'm wrong, but I thought about it for a second. What if (and it's nothing more than a what if) WCW actually became better than WWF? Do you think Vince would've allowed that? I mean, yes, he would still get the benefit off it since he would be the owner and all, but look at it now, it seems like he can't even let SmackDown! surpass RAW, let alone a company that almost got him out of business and was not his creation.

Im not sure whats laughable about that.it seemed pretty obvious to me thats where things were headed..... many have said the plan was to establish WCW as a brand then start the interpromotional war between the two with Invasions and such.hell Vince even dug up this concept in 2002 for the brand split.

I thought Buff had his mom call him in sick? Missed several house shows in his first week, if I'm not mistaken. That would be like starting any new job and missing four outta five days, you're gonna get canned.
I do believe the original idea was for wCw to have it's own show. And the wCw main event on RAW was to help establish them to fans of RAW. But they couldn't get a TV deal for them so the idea was eventually scrapped. And the draft was a back up plan.

I remember i read during the whole Invasion feud they planned on having WCW RAW (similar to how nWo sabotaged Nitro before Starrcade 97 and renamed it nWo Nitro).
I think think they even planned on having a separate WCW show on TNN Saturday nights. But i think it was all just BS dirtsheet rumors and Vince only bought WCW to show how powerful his company really is and i think he actually meant when he said "WCW will be dead and buried" during the last broadcast.

Yeah Jim Ross did say he had his mother call in sick for him. But I'd always heard before Ross said that, Buff wore the hat after Vince told him not to and was fired because of it.

Wasnt this pretty much unadvertised? I was pretty young at the time so I dont really remember the whole thing vividly but from what I do remember I dont think it was advertised at all untill that night. That seems like a mistake IMO.

It was announced a week before by Shane McMahon from what i recall and Vince agreed.

Vince's biggest enemy was WCW for years. He wasn't going to keep that going. At leased he respected what ECW did while they were there.
