TIMELINE 2008-2010:
The U.S. economy weakens. Among the ailing businesses who are struggling to survive is the Professional Wrestling industry. More and more major companies start to nose dive and the state of the union that is known as the United States start to crumble. Many investors start pulling out of their current positions leading to the fall of the economy as we know it. The shifting decline leads to a free-fall of morality in the United States. A pattern starts to form. When the business fails and closes, so does the hearts of the people. There appears to be no hope left and all signs point to a major depression. On the wrestling aspect of things, right from the start, many independent wrestling companies are humbled and are forced to close their doors, leaving hundreds of workers without jobs, adding to the already growing tally. As for the major industries, World Wrestling Entertainment continues to somehow maintain its doors open and still become mildly successful, but its nothing like it has been in the past. The signs point to less stars being signed and even a decrease in house shows. The schedule gets lighter and lighter for the workers. Total Non-Stop Action, whose popularity was slowing growing, comes to a screeching halt and is forced to remain a national company; almost regional. The biggest independent company at the time, Ring of Honor, is forced to cancel shows but somehow stay afloat from the cult following that they have achieved. The storylines that we all know and love (or hate) stay the same...that is not the important part. The more important part is that these companies are starting to fade with the rest of the country. All signs are pointing south and the wrestling industry will need a miracle to ever achieve the status of what they once owned.
2011:
Somehow, things take a turn for the worse...the absolute worst. More and more businesses are forced to shut doors and more than 45% are without jobs. The United States are now faced with possible invasion threats from the China and it seems like all hope is lost. Very weak the country becomes and a war seems to be needed to get us out of the tombs. In the meantime, the wrestling industry is almost dust. A handful of companies actually remain and our major three (WWE, TNA, ROH) becomes weaker and weaker. World Wrestling Entertainment shrinks down to a national company since they are unable to afford to travel globally. Still, as noted before, the storylines are able to stay the same as we know. Only the financial structure of the company differs. TNA and ROH feel the same hit, as Ring of Honor is forced to severely cut back on shows to where they are almost non-existent. By the end of the year, only whatever is left of TNA and WWE will remain for the business we love. Seeing the ship sinking in the United States, many foreign talents take their specialty back to their homeland, abandoning whatever company they were working for.
Towards the later part of the year, the United States seems to do what it has done always...pulled itself up by its bootstraps and conquered its problems. As forcing China to a stalemate and signing an agreement, a treaty, of an international peacetime, things start to pick up again. The economy, with the help of the pressuring war, hits rock bottom and bounces back almost instantly. Miraculously, jobs open back up and things almost go back to normal. But, before all this can happen, the fall of the wrestling industry occurs. World Wrestling Entertainment and Total Non-Stop Action are forced to close doors due to the impending war. The wrestling industry has died and now many are without jobs. The final WWE show takes place on December 13th, 2011 in New York, showcasing John Cena defeating Randy Orton to become the final WWE Champion of all time.
BUT...as stated before, the economy almost fixes itself entirely and now, what will become of the wrestling industry?
EARLY 2012:
World Wrestling Entertainment cannot seem to find suitable investors to re-open doors just shortly after they closed, but a new idea sprouts. The wrestling elite start meeting to speak and collaborate on a new idea that was inspired from their own country. To start from the beginning...to hit rock bottom and come out swinging right away. To go back to start and rebuild the industry...almost brick by brick. You now may be thinking to yourself, 'This idea is absolutely preposterous and would NEVER happen in real life.' Well, that's great for you, but in this alternate reality...this is how it goes down. With no investors in-sight for a new company, the wrestling elite are forced to start from the beginning. And that beginning is TERRITORIAL WRESTLING.
DUANER NOTE: Hey, its unrealistic. Big whoop. I had an idea and I am running with it...so hopefully this keeps me as excited as I am now. Don't look into the politic aspect too much, as I wanted to just keep it easy and simple. Sure, the US and China will probably NEVER have a international treaty of peace and if they did, it sure as hell would never be able to be accomplished in half a year. But in my universe, it is. Because that's how I want it. So if this diary is too unrealistic sounding to you...free and open your mind. This could be fun...starting from nothing. Stay tuned for more!

WHERE WE STAND NOW:
Things took a few months to really get off the ground. A lot of planning had to be made from the wrestling elite and after realizing that many of the foreign talents would not be returning to the states, decisions had to be made. Discussions that took place over these few months laid out the foundation for the new company that was taking shape. The wrestling elite were able to put their heads together and come up with the simplest, most basic form of running a company...like it was when everything first started.
They decided on four major locations throughout the company. These four 'divisions', if you can call them that, would provide regional wrestling and allow little to no travel, cutting down that cost. With little travel expenses, the funds that the company had could be used for better production and better wrestling overall. The amount of phone calls made and connections used where astounding and at the end of the planning stages, each division was left with 20 workers.
Next step was negotiating with local news networks for some kind of television deals. With the entertainment business still in shambles from the economic rollercoaster over the past few years, there was no time slots to be had for these 'divisions' or 'regions'. So, the only solution that the wrestling elites came up with was to start their own network. A small network, that would be available to order for a certain amount a month on various service providers. This network would show classic highlights from all past companies and of course, it would showcase the hour long show for each region. With each region being on a different night, the maximum viewing pleasure for the wrestling fan could be achieved. The network would be named something simple and perfect for what it was...'The Wrestling Network'.
Now, you may be asking yourself, 'what are these four regions that the company is divided into?' This is that simple answer; the Central region, the Northeastern division, the Southeastern division and the Western division. What competitors will be wrestling for each of these companies? Well, you'll have to wait and find out til next time.
Stay tuned for more updates on the only wrestling company in existence now...the UWT.

I'm sold. Bringing back the territories was a stroke of genius, as that was the spark that first made wrestling popular. I look forward to seeing where you go from here.

I wonder why The Undertaker didn't make the final cut. Either way, the anticipation for your first show is building and I'm anxious to see where you go from here.

Just some thoughts: How does the rating system work? With only one championship for each region and presumably one challenger, where would that leave the wrestlers with nothing going on? Would there be a situation where all four regions come together for one night only and do a big show? How were the wrestlers chosen? Could you explain to me why Sting made the final cut and not The Undertaker?

Just some thoughts: How does the rating system work? For my use honestly...just how wrestlers rate up against each other and will factor into ratings/money.With only one championship for each region and presumably one challenger, where would that leave the wrestlers with nothing going on? Fighting to earn a right compete for the top spot.Would there be a situation where all four regions come together for one night only and do a big show? Probably not...defeats the purpose. How were the wrestlers chosen? Wrestlers were based on the top wrestlers in wrestling today...then I filter out the ones who are (kayfabe) billed from the United States.Could you explain to me why Sting made the final cut and not The Undertaker? Undertaker is billed from 'Death Valley' or 'Parts Unknown', while Sting is billed from California.
