ok so today i was browsing craigslist looking for tonights monday night raw tickets, since it is in chicago, and i came across 4 VIP ringside tickets. i thought they would cost a lot, but when i emailed him, he only wanted 500 for all 4. so not bad 125 a piece for VIP ringside tickets. well i drive an hour and a half to meet him, pay him 500 cash, and went home with, what i thought at the time was, a deal of a lifetime. now fast forward to now. im trying to get in to RAW with 3 other friends who all split the cost of the tickets, and to my suprise we were pulled aside. i explained my story to security and showed them the emails as proof. so the cops show up and i explain my story to them. I file a police report, but i doubt he will be found. i didnt even get the guys name. This whole thing was very embaressing. so unfourtunatly im out 500 bucks, and have 3 angry friends who are out a total 375, which i promised to pay them back, since i was the one who brought the tickets. so total i lost 500 bucks for the tickets, and 375 for what i have to repay to my friends. 875 total, just because some douch wanted to make some quick money. At least i learned a lesson, i will be buying tickets much more carefully now. Also, next time they are in the area im going to see if i can find the same guy doing the same thing and confront him with the police, but thats next time they are in town. So now here i am, back where i started. watching Raw live... on TV has anyone else had any experiences like this?

That sucks bro. I recommend just buying from ticketmaster or from stubhub.

I don't wanna add insult to injury.. but um.. you didn't find anything peculiar about FOUR VIP ringside tickets for 125 each..? On craigslist of all places?
Just how the old saying goes- if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Sorry for your loss, I hate for that to happen to anybody.. but I could have told you it was a scam.

It sucks for you. But I must say, you kind of had it coming. You've got to be careful, and paying that much money, in cash, to a guy you met on craigslist and not thoroughly inspecting the tickets at the point of purchase, or asking someone to varify the tickets was just not a wise idea.
Stick to registered ticket websites and if you are to purchase tickets of personal sellers, go through correct channels, we have a website here in the UK where you can buy tickets off personal sellers, but the website protects the purchase.

I assume that they were paper tickets (e-tickets)? If so, I certainly would have been cautious about going through with the purchase.
Now, that isn't to say genuine deals can't be had on there. I don't think you were crazy for being interested. Not all tickets on Craigslist are fake, and while that does seem like a low price for VIP, it's the day of the show and it could have been an honest seller just looking to make something rather than letting them go to waste.
Just out of curiosity, do you have the tickets? I'd be interested in seeing them to find out whether or not they were legitimate and just double scanned, or if they were actual full blown fakes.
If they were double prints of a legitimate ticket, the police should be able to get in touch with Ticketmaster, provide the order number, and from there, get a name.

Wait. Where the heck did the $875 come from. If you paid $500.00, and your friends each pitched in $125.00, then wouldn't you still only be screwed out of $500.00.

Ouchie. That must be disadvantage for you and your friends after all of you looking forward to the show.
That is one reason I never buy tickets from guys at outside of the arena.

First he was screwed by the craigslist guy, now his friends are screwing him? I don't mean to hijack the thread. Can anybody tell me what VIP gets you? I haven't been to RAW in years.

But how are his friends screwing him. If he paid the $500.00 upfront himself, then they shouldn't have any reason to want money back, they just dont' give it to him. If they did pitch in, then they put in $375.00 , he put in $125.00, again only $500.00 lost. Yes he has to get them the $375.00 back, but combined with his $125.00 he's still only screwed out of $500.00.

You didn't mention you spent it on something else. I understand now. Sorry about that man, I'd take see if ticketmaster could help you out. Maybe as someone said, if they were copied you could get a name.
