I'm not trying to be mean, but when I saw his run in tonight I was thinking to myself that he didn't look well. I wonder if it was a stroke? He sounded really disoriented tonight, if you listen again to his commentary, he was repeating the same things over and over again. Possibly. He looked like he was moving around in the ring okay. Maybe he was feeling ill the whole time, pushed himself really hard in the ring, and that's what caused this to happen. Not knowing exactly what happened is killing us. You know Cole is getting updates right now.

The fact that they're saying his eyes are responding to light makes me believe he can't talk, which is why I suspect stroke.

I grew up in Memphis, watching wrestling during the earlier part and later in the prime of Jerry Lawler's career. For many of you younger folks, I can understand why Lawler seems annoying, however I can assure you he IS a legend in the world of professional wrestling.
He has wrestled EVERYONE...Hogan, Flair, Funk, Race, Andre, etc. He would consistently sell out the Mid-South Coliseum every Monday night (yes...Monday Night wrestling began in Memphis BEFORE Monday Night RAW or even Monday Night Football) and worked as a booker and owner....not to mention he is a world class artist.
One of the reasons he has been around so long is because he is one of a handful of people, whom Vince McMahon considers as a peer and someone worthy of Vince's attention and respect. He is about the only wrestler I can think of whom Vince allows to wrestle on any independent card and still works for the WWE at the same time. When Lawler was a booker/owner-his motto (along with Jerry Jarrett) was that "personal issues sell tickets", which is why both Cole and Punk seemed to get really personal with their insults and verbal attacks.....it was Lawler booking it. I can't express just how great wrestling used to be, especially in the Memphis area-where many of the gimmicks are still used today were born.
Also one other thing.....Lawler is the original straight-edge guy, which he didn't promote as a gimmick-just lived....he doesn't drink, smoke or even curse-however he is not a religious person either, just a good guy, who drinks coca-cola instead of beer.
I have met Jerry Lawler many times, he was always nice, considerate and appreciates wrestling fans. I hope he is okay and recovers quickly.

From canoe.ca Sounds like a heart attack
MONTREAL - During Monday Night Raw, announcer Jerry "The King" Lawler collapsed and ringside, was stretchered to the backstage area and is receiving CPR.
"Jerry passed out here at ringside," said a distraught Michael Cole to the audience, Lawler's seat vacant beside him. "He was stretchered to the back."
"He is receiving medical attention as we speak. They are performing CPR. And again, this is not, not part of tonight's entertainment," confirmed Cole.
SLAM! Wrestling's Patric Laprade is at Raw at Montreal's Bell Centre, and filed this report:
"Lawler grabbed his arm, collapsed and his face was blueish. Something like 7-8 people rushed to over to him, lifted him backstage. The medics were clearly told by the production to go backstage as they didn't want anything to happen in front of the fans.
"Right after, people were running everywhere, not seeming to know what to do exactly. Cole looked like he saw a ghost and seemed very shaken.
"The staff cleaned the floor near the announcers booth, I'm not sure if that's because he threw up or not.
"There was definitely a moment of panic during those few minutes.
"During every commercials, the fans here are chanting 'Jerry.' They didn't tell us anything here and what Cole said on TV about Lawler getting CPR in the back and that not being part of the show didn't air live."
Twitter is going wild with the news, including a tweet from Lawler's long-time broadcast partner, Jim Ross: "I'm shaken by the news of my friend Jerry Lawler's medical emergency in Montreal. Hands shaking. Prayers for the King. I feel helpless."
WWE.com posted a huge news alert: "During the tag team match between Kane & Daniel Bryan and The Prime Time Players tonight on Raw, viewers may have noticed members of the audience and WWE production team staring toward the commentary booth, as well as the absence of Jerry 'The King' Lawler’s voice. WWE.com has learned that the WWE Hall of Famer collapsed at the announcers' table and was tended to in the locker room area by WWE medical staff. Lawler was then taken from the arena to a medical facility in Montreal."
Through its Twitter account, WWE announced that Lawler is going to have a CAT scan at the hospital and "more responsive" and "reacting to lights."
The concluding segments of Raw have aired without commentary.

Get better King. I'm pulling for you as well as I'm sure everyone else is. Cole just was so shaken the rest of the night.

I mentioned in the Raw thread, it's things like this, that make you realize how much these guys can actually mean to you, even if you don't realize it. After it happened, waiting for news, I had a knot in my stomach, like I was waiting for updates on a relative or friend.

This is so unreal right now. I'm at work so I didn't see any of it, but I still have chills just sitting here reading this. Pull through Lawler, we are all praying for you.

"Prayers go out to Jerry Lawler and those in his life. I may not be a part of his family but growing up he sure was a part of mine."

I was also in shock after I just heard that Jerry passed out on the floor while doing commentary with Michael Cole. I hope that Vince lets "The King" take a few weeks or a couple of months off to recouperate. Don't leave us now or yet, Jerry.

I know Vince can be a bastard sometimes, but there's no way he'd make someone that suffered a major health scare like Lawler come back before he was ready.

Really scary situation tonight. I may not like King's commentary a lot, but I hope he gets better and pulls through. No matter what anyone says, he's a legend. You can do it Jerry! I'll keep you in my prayers.
