Of course he's going to claim that. Exactly what I was gonna say. This is gonna be a he said, she said with MAYBE a hit to the wallet for Punk. He better not drop the title and he certainly will NOT be fired for this. Those even suggesting that are being ridiculous.

I can't believe people think this is not legit... From the live audience in Sacramento, including myself, clearly know that the "victim" shoved punk multiple times and all punk did was react to it as if the guy was going to to it again.

Lol I like how there's always that one guy that has to come on here and claim that crap is a work. Then they proceed to grab at straws as to why it would be one. This was definitely legit and Punk can't do stuff like this if he ever wants to be the number one guy. this is wrestling...it is not that wild to consider it may be a work. just LAST NIGHT at an ring of honor event an incident went down where for a bit people did not know if it was worked or not. as i said before, punk has a dvd coming out and this could easily be a ploy to gain some attention as it already has. i'm not saying it's definetly a work, but it very well may be.

If A.W. got the boot for his Kobe statement, then I would expect even worse for Punk. This was clearly a genuine incident as you can see the surprised look on the victims face as well as the reaction from the other crowd members around Punk. Nobody saw anything really on TV before Punk swung. Countless people there have said the fan started it pushing Punk from behind. That accidental elbow when he was putting his sunglasses on could have been the last straw for Punk so he swung. I'd be surprised too if I was being a dick to a celebrity and not expecting to get my face rocked.

Who the puts on sunglasses indoors? I commend punk. People treat stars as animals taking pictures, wanting autographs, and touching them. All wrestling gimmicks/storylines apart people honestly need to give more respect to others.

Ah, I thought I saw that on tv! I don't think there will be any lawsuit, and if there is it would be dismissed. Any company cant have outsiders attacking their employees. If the guy actually ended up pushing Punk down the stairs who knows what could've happened. I see it as Punk fending off a "mob" crowd for his own safety.

Wow. Regardless of what the fan did, you just don't hit a fan when you are the WWE champion and a face of the company!!
Everything Punk worked hard for is about to be thrown down the drain over a stupid act. Shame.

I was there and from what I saw it looked like someone touched Punk's head and he turned around and punched that dude.
I don't even know if the person who touched Punk was the person who was punched but either way this isn't good..
Security came right away btw. I believe 2 guys were right there and I saw one talking to the person who was punched.
Hopefully some others who were there and on have an account here can share their experience.

Nobody could say anything until there is proof/videos of the incident.

Punk is fine, all wrestling news sites are reporting fan incidents and it appears this guy kept slapping Punk.
Punk is fine. Age old rule, "Don't Mess With The Best."

@colereporting on twitter posted some pics of the fan and she said the fan is filling out a police report.
And if you look at the video, it appears CM Punk got tapped on the shoulder by another fan and then he just turned around and laid this guy out.

You guys are basing this off of what you saw. You have to realize, Punk was standing there for a while before the camera turned to him.

Or it's just some guy trying and failing at being cool. I'm leaning toward the latter.
