I decided to combine my posts regarding my customs, if I can figure out how to delete my past ones in entirety Ill do that. Thanks to all you guys for tips you've given me, and most of all for making awesome customs yourselves that inspired me to try it myself First: Psycho SidMy first attempt at making a custom fig, just a simple parts swap. I took a DA Festus for the body, and put on the head and left arm from the CS Sid. I had forgotten that Festus had a tattoo, but I have since removed it from the shoulder. I also recently changed out the right hand so it has a closed fist, just need to paint the wristband white.  The Great Muta (vintage)Im a huge Muta fan and have wanted to make one since I found this site and saw people with their awesome customs. I took a DA 3 Shawn Michaels, removed the tattoo and head, and popped on a Funaki head. I painted the face, and did a simple black paintjob on the pants. The pants Shawn had were pretty close in build to the karate pants Muta wore back in the day  Ultimo DragonLooking at Skribbel's site for years made me want to make an Ultimo Dragon. I bought an exclusive RA Dragon, took off the head, arms and cape, and put them onto a DA Paul Burchill. The paint job was a bit more complex than Muta with the pattern on the tights.     I havent had time to get sealer to cover the paintjobs and give them a shine, mainly cause Im having a problem with the paint scraping off the joints when I bend the legs, if anyone has any suggestions on how I can fix that Id really appreciate it cause I would like my figures to be somewhat playable. Feedback would definitely be appreciated Planned customs: -Ultimate Warrior (CS1) -Terry Funk (CS) -Hayabusa (need a head) -Edge (Brood-era tights) -Papa Shango (might be too complex for me right now) |

Sid looks good. Simple but effective.
Muta looks good as well. Some of the original paint is on the crotch by the torso. The paint might be a little bit too thick. Wet your brush and dab off the excess paint before starting. The finger paint seems excessive.
Ultimo isn't too bad. For red, it's better to use a base cost of gray, so it shows up better. Besides that, I have no complaints.

I need to figure out a way to get the paint as close to the waistline as I can without getting it on the top half, maybe twisting the torso halfway to one side might help. I tried the whole wetting my brush technique, I even tried mixing some water into the paint iself on my palette, still seemed a bit thick. Are you referring to me painting Mutas fingers or the type of paint, cause I was just trying to get the figure as accurate as possible and I bought paints that a few other guys said was a preferred type to use. I wouldnt mind trying Testors paints but theyre a bit pricey for me

Seems like there's too much paint on the finger.
If you don't take apart figures, wrap masking tape around the bottom of the torso and turn the torso to get the part painted. Seal it before you turn the torso back or it'll rub.
I don't use Testors. Just acrylic here. Have thought about getting a small thing of black to seal stuff like legs though.

Im hoping to try n drop by Michaels to get some sealer n see how that works out. Thinking of maybe popping the legs off at the joints and sanding them down ever so slightly so when I repaint and seal the movement wont kill the joints, thoughts? That Ultimo Dragon is pretty epic. One of my latest completed projects, been too lazy to post pics though lol Terry Funk  CS Funk head hands and kneepads, DA Orton body and a paintjob. At the time I didnt consider the issue of skintone, so the body is a bit more tan than the face, but for the most part its not all that noticeable    I know the paintjob isnt the best, my hands arent always as steady or flexible as Id like them to be, but it could be a lot worse i guess Heres a pic with my Toybiz NWA title I recently purchased, Funk is the only figure I have that ever held that iconic title. The belt is smaller than I thought it'd be, despite a few people saying it would fit. Im thinking about releathering the belt which might help  Ive got a few more coming up, been so busy with work lately |

My latest finished custom, and possibly my best looking one so far From Pembroke, North Carolina...TATANKA!     I dont know why the boots have a purple tinge to them, they dont look like that in person, it was a standard brown with a bit of white mixed in, they do look better in person. And with his gear on. The loincloth got a bit loose putting it on him, plus the CS Tatankas waist is a bit bigger than the DA anyway lol  |

Another piece I finally finished, more out of frustration than anything lol this one I started early on but took me forever. From Parts Unknown...THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR! This one gave me problems. The yellow paint I used didn't show up so well for the chest accents, and the legs gave me huge fn problems. The paint would rub in the hips whenever I tried to move the legs. U tried sanding down parts of the hip pieces but it didn't help. And the paint wasn't really covering well so I had to keep repainting. I did one last coat and sealer and said  it, skipped the little Warrior logos, and I consider it done. Not my finest work but oh we'll |

Thanks man. Im just leaving Warrior as is for now, maybe down the line Ill strip and repaint the trunks but for now it'll suffice
hopefully Ill be able to get the parts I need cheap enough for my next projects

Really loving your Edge! Im a sucker for white/silver attires and I can say I really love this one! The designs are a little rough but hey, it works well. You're girlfriend,,,,that ones looks a little crazy in the eyes, but if she liked it, more power to you. |
