So when Taker first debuted the urn carried by Paul Bearer gave him his power. made him unstoppable. Undertaker eventually starting gaining power from his fans and the audience which meant he no longer needed the power of the urn.
More recently Undertaker brought back the urn to face Kane as he needed the strength that only the urn could possess. Using the power of the urn the Undertaker once again beat Kane and became the WWE WHC.
Only now, watching Undertakers Deadliest Matches DVD I wonder, what was in the urn? I've read up a bit online and its apparently his mother and fathers ashes, which is a suitable and logic idea. Uncle Paul owning the funeral home would have had access to the ashes etc etc.
HOWEVER! I recall a segment on RAW is WAR where Kane burnt the coffin containing the parents. How could he burn the corpses' when they were already in the urn.
Am I mistaken here? or was it WWE just hyping the feud and forgetting part of Takers gimmick?

That was my thinking ![:P](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/tongue.gif) They kinda play on the weakness of peoples memory, which I like, because it means that theres leeway for a lot to happen and you not to expect it.

As far as I can remember, WWE has never actually revealed the contents of the urn, they always leave it up to speculation, and let the fans come up with their own theories. And remember the urn has changed many times over the years, even one time being melted down by Kama to make a necklace, after he stole it. It's also been opened before, once, when Undertaker returned at Summer Slam for the Undertaker vs. Undertaker match. It was the larger urn, that Paul Bearer took the lid off and a beam of light came out, signaling the return of the real Undertaker to face Ted DiBiase's impostor. I almost think there was one time too, when the urn was knocked open, and a green smoke started pouring out.
I know another theory early in Undertaker's run was the urn contained the souls of the wrestlers he had defeated over the year. Then years later, they would talk about how the urn actually held no actual supernatural powers, but was more of a psychological tool used by Paul Bearer. Really when it comes down to it, you can really saw the urn is whatever fans really want it to be. There's no real official story linked to it.

it had ashes in it when Hogan had his rematch with WWF Champion The Undertaker at "This Tuesday in Texas". Hogan used the ashes to blind Taker and get the pin.
it had green smoke when Yokozuna opened it after belting Taker with it at Royal Rumble '94.
it had the beam of light in it at SummerSlam '94 when Bearer opened it.
and it had nothing in it at WrestleMania XI, when Kama stole it,dropped it upside down and the lid fell off,and nothing came out before he quickly put the lid back on.

I always thought it was supposed to be The Undertakers life force or something.
When the Urn was opened and the green smoke came out he went all limp and lifeless afterword and kind of died (that titantron video).

I like to think that Bearer got to take that urn home with him after it'd run its course and he uses it as a flashlight that he keeps at his bedside for when he has to take a late-night tinkle.

Also the last time Taker used it against Kane, Kane actually beat him to retain the WHC title.

Yeah. This was the payoff. An urn with a giant Maglite inside. Yippee. Maybe Undertaker's parents were potatoes?
