HISTORY
APRIL 4TH, 2001: Extreme Championship Wrestling is forced to close its doors following Paul Heyman filing for bankruptcy. JULY 9TH, 2001: The ECW alliance is formed inside of the World Wrestling Federation. Many superstars from the defunct ECW take place and join forces with various World Championship Wrestling talents. NOVEMBER 18TH, 2001: Team Alliance is defeated by Team WWF which leads to the demise of the ECW/WCW alliance in the World Wrestling Federation. JUNE 12TH, 2005: World Wrestling Entertainment holds the first ever ECW 'One Night Stand', a tribute to the glory days of ECW, held in the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. The pay-per-view goes on to be a huge success for fans, talent and the company. APRIL 2ND, 2006: Rob Van Dam becomes the second man ever to capture the Money In The Bank briefcase which guarantees him a title shot at either the WWE Champion or World Champion, any time or any place. MAY 22ND, 2006: Rob Van Dam announces at the end of WWE Raw that he will be cashing in his opportunity at the second annual ECW 'One Night Stand', claiming that he will bring home the ECW Championship to the new brand. MAY 25TH, 2006: World Wrestling Entertainment agrees to a deal with NBC Universal company, the SciFi network, to bring back ECW as a third brand full-time. It is agreed upon that ECW would receive a 13 episode run to see how the brand fared and to appease the SciFi network, the programming must be geared toward their fanbase. The relaunch was do to the overwhelming success of ECW 'One Night Stand' almost a year ago. According to various reports while planning out the new ECW, Vince McMahon had agreed to give Paul Heyman, former ECW owner, majority creative control, as long as he utilized up and coming talent from WWE's development partners, Ohio Valley Wrestling and Deep South Wrestling. JUNE 7TH, 2006: WWE vs. ECW Head to Head special airs on the USA Network. This program featured many ECW and WWE talents facing off right before the upcoming 'One Night Stand II'. The evening also featured the Big Show jumping ship from WWE to ECW. JUNE 11TH, 2006: ECW 'One Night Stand II' is held once again at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. The evening features Rob Van Dam capturing the WWE Championship from John Cena after Edge interfered on RVD's behalf. JUNE 12TH, 2006: Paul Heyman, ECW owner and operator, kicks off Raw by announcing that his talent, Rob Van Dam, will be trading in the WWE Championship for the newly reinstated ECW Championship and that all his ECW talent will be leaving the godforsaken World Wrestling Entertainment umbrella for good. Later in the evening, a full ECW talent walk-out (kayfabe) is shown and a WWE Championship tournament was announced.

ECW NEWS: NOTES BEFORE THE BIG PREMIERE TONIGHT- The feeling in the locker room for tonight is pure excitement from everyone but especially Paul Heyman. It seems that Heyman has been given plenty of control over this little project and to many, it seems like he is back to his old creative self. - Rob Van Dam will officially be crowned the new ECW Champion. Don't know if they will be carrying over the lineage from the original title. - Expect not all matches not to be contested under original ECW rules going forward. This was one big thing Vince McMahon didn't want on the brand. - Some wrestlers may be moving over from other brands onto the ECW roster in the coming weeks. Also, expect the likes of CM Punk, Sonny Siaki and Ray Gordy to be the first call-ups to ECW.

EXTREME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ON SCIFI #001 JUNE 13TH, 2006 - SOVEREIGN BANK ARENA; TRENTON, NJ (5,100)
A recap video of the events from Sunday's ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view were shown. Some photo stills of each match were shown and the slideshow closed with Rob Van Dam defeating John Cena to become the new ECW Champion with the help of Edge. Then, the ECW-wide locker room walk out from last night on Monday Night Raw was shown. Tonight, the tribe of extreme rises again!
A brand new opening video is shown which mixes highlights from the One Night Stand pay-per-views and old ECW footage. 'Let The Bodies Hit The Floor' by Drowning Pool is the official theme song for ECW on SciFi and that is playing the background during the video. Finally, we go into the arena where the fans are standing by to kick things off for the first ever ECW on the SciFi network! Our commentary team, Joey Styles & Tazz welcome us to the show and also welcome us back to the land of extreme! Both men seem pumped up for tonight's show and before anything else can be said, the owner of ECW, Paul Heyman, makes his presence known in the arena as the crowd goes crazy! Heyman is carrying a black bag which presumably holds the brand new ECW Championship, which will be presented to Rob Van Dam tonight.
Heyman settles down the crowd and then gets an ECW chant going again before his little speech. Paul announces that tonight is the 'Rebirth of Innovation' in professional wrestling and wants everyone to get ready for an excellent alternative for wrestling. Then, he gets right down to business and talks about what's in his hands, the brand new ECW Championship. Heyman goes on about how Rob Van Dam was able to defeat the virtually undefeatable John Cena two days ago and he calls RVD down to the ring now. Rob Van Dam comes down and the crowd explodes as RVD gets a huge pop! The crowd chants 'RVD' as he rolls into the ring and shakes Heyman's hand. Before Van Dam could say anything or Heyman could take the Championship out, the two men are interrupted by Stevie Richards. Richards receives a mixed reaction and takes a microphone from the ring announcer and starts to talk about how things have changed already in ECW and we aren't five minutes into the program. Richards notes that he remembers no handouts in the original ECW and why should this be any different? Sure, Van Dam won the WWE Championship, but that means nothing here in the Land of Extreme! Heyman takes a step back and seems to agree with Richards. Heyman announces that instead of just handing Van Dam this title, he will have to fight for it...and since Richards brought this to his attention, he will be Van Dam's opponent in our main event! The crowd cheers as Heyman reminds the two former WWE superstars that we are back to ECW rules...where there are no rules! Heyman laughs as Richards and Van Dam stare each other down as we cut to commercial.
vs. MATCH #1: SUPER CRAZY VS. LITTLE GUIDO (W/TONY MAMALUKE) This was a semi-rematch from Sunday's pay-per-view as the only piece missing is Crazy's tag partner TAJIRI, who has prior commitments to Japan for the rest of the month before he can return full time to ECW. Tonight was no different than their fast paced tag match from ONSII and these guys warmed the crowd up nicely. A solid effort from both men, but the bout ended after Tony Mamaluke distracted Super Crazy on the outside which allowed Guido to gain the upperhand and eventually drilled him with the Sicilian Slice. WINNER: LITTLE GUIDO
Afterward, Super Crazy holds his head and looks on in disappointment as the F.B.I. walk away victorious here on the first ever episode of ECW on SciFi!
A dark alley is shown with smoke coming from it. As the smoke begins to rise faster, a scream is heard. After a few moments of silence, footsteps are head but no shadow is seen. Eventually, the entire screen goes black as we see someone smiling with big fangs and a maniacal laugh is head.
When we return from commercial break, Al Snow is entertaining the crowd with his friend, head. The crowd chants for 'head' as Snow seems to be living it up. Quickly though, Snow is interrupted by the Olympic Gold Medalist, Kurt Angle, who gets a great crowd reaction. Angle tells the crowd that he expected more wrestling from ECW and less sideshow freaks like Snow. Angle challenges Snow to a match right now and Snow responds by knocking Angle in the head with...head. MATCH #2: AL SNOW VS. KURT ANGLE The match started off competitive as Snow had a quick advantage following the 'head' shot, but before you knew it, Angle gained the momentum and there wasn't much after that. Angle was throwing Snow around the ring with German Suplexes and finally locked in the Angle Lock and Snow rapidly tapped out as fiercely held on to the hold. WINNER: KURT ANGLE
Following the match, Angle cut a promo calling out the entire locker room, demanding competition. Following that proclamation, the lights went out in the arena and after a few moments, they returned with Sabu standing behind Angle with a steel chair! The crowd goes nuts as Sabu throws the chair at Angle who catches it but is met with a spinning heel kick! Sabu then ascends to the top rope and crushes Angle with an Arabian facebuster! Then, familiar music is heard as The Sandman is seen in the crowd drinking beer with a kendo stick in his hand! Eventually, he makes his way down to the ring and goes after longtime rival Sabu. The two trade chair and kendo stick shots before Sandman cracks Sabu hard over the head. Sabu rolls out of the ring and Sandman goes to drink another beer before he is met with an Angle Slam! Angle stands tall as the two ECW originals are hurting on the ground.
Rob Van Dam is seen warming up for the ECW Championship match which is coming up after our next commercial break. His warm-up highlights his great flexibility as he is is mentally and physically warming his body for his opportunity which is coming up shortly.
A highlight video of the Big Show is shown, showcasing just how he ended up in the Land of Extreme!
MAIN EVENT; ECW CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: ROB VAN DAM VS. STEVIE RICHARDS It was now time for the main event of the evening as these two eagerly awaited their return match to ECW. All different types of weaponry was used in the match, including a steel chair (which was heavily used by Rob Van Dam), a stop sign and eventually, a table. In a highlight from the match, Richards set up a table in the middle of the ring and powerbombed Van Dam right through it, but only got a long two count. Richards then tried for a superkick but it was missed and that gave Van Dam an entry back into the match. To end the awesome main event which kept the crowd going throughout, Van Dam placed a steel chair on the sternum of Richards and then climbed the top rope and nailed a Five Star Frog Splash to score the three count and become the new ECW Champion! WINNER AND NEW ECW CHAMPION: ROB VAN DAM
Paul Heyman then came down to congratulate Van Dam and do what he should have done in the first place...award Van Dam the ECW Championship! The crowd went wild as RVD placed the Championship over his shoulder and climbed the top rope to do his famous 'RVD' taunt as Richards and the carnage from the main event lay at his feet as ECW on SciFi's debut comes to a close!

Decent enough first show. Having RVD fight for the ECW Title was nice but couldn't you have done a better opponent that Richards? I did love the interaction between Angle, Sandman and Sabu. I can see pretty good three-way feud emerging between those guys.
Overall a nice beginning. Can't wait to see what you have for show #2.

ECW on Sci-Fi: Tuesday 13th June 2006...Alright, long road ahead. Let's have a looksy. Decent promo with Paul Heyman introducing the ECW World Heavyweight Championship belt, and I liked Rob Van Dam throwing aside the WWE Championship in favor of the ECW gold. Steven Richards coming out was different, but it did set up an interesting, unique main event to our premiere episode. I like it, but my only issue is the contrast in star power between RVD and Richards. If you wanted a powerful way to introduce somebody, CM Punk would have been the right choice, not necessarily to win, but to present as a hard-hitting, nearly-victorious player in Extreme Championship Wrestling. Little Guido and Super Crazy had a fair opening contest, I hope that the cruiserweight division from SmackDown! at some point becomes entwined into the ECW brand - that'd be cool, plus we'd see a heavy mashup of talent from both ECW and the SmackDown! brand. Had Psicosis been released by this point? Would have been a great, heated feud idea to establish the former Mexicools. Kevin Thorn is coming to ECW! Of course he is. I hope Al Snow and Head remain on ECW as a comedy act, that'd be neat to see, rather than losing to bigger, more important superstars of the modern era. Kurt Angle picking up the win was fair, however. Angle then calling out the ECW locker room, just to get answered from Sabu was a nice touch - I feel like we could've gone without the Sandman's involvement though, personally. It didn't grab my attention. Up lastly, good ECW World Heavyweight Championship match in our first main event, with the way it should have been done at the beginning of the show with Heyman awarding the ECW World Heavyweight Championship to Rob Van Dam. Full-circle, nicely done. Overall, quite a good premiere given the amount of time you had to present so many things. I hope you don't rush too many rivalries that should be carefully played out over time: for example; RVD vs Angle; Sabu vs RVD; CM Punk rising too quickly (unless in the method I noted earlier, or similar), etc. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this!

6/15/06 ECW NEWS: REACTION TO THE DEBUT, SABU IN TROUBLE?, &MORE- The overall feeling coming from the company as a whole is that ECW was a great success in all aspects. First off, tickets sales sold pretty well for the entire Smackdown/ECW event in excitement for the return. The crowd was pumped to see their favorites from the old ECW and are patiently awaiting the arrival of the new talent from OVW & DSW. Also, the debut was the highest rated show in the SciFi network's history and while no OFFICIAL number is out yet, it seems like this show is on a path to shatter any kind of records for the network. - With that news, WWE & SciFi network will begin negotiating on a longer termed contract within the week. Right now, ECW was only signed on as a 13 episode run. - According to many sources, Sabu is already in hot water after not protecting Angle during the Arabian Facebuster from this week's episode. Angle wasn't too upset about things but management doesn't seem to want to deal with Sabu's laziness in the ring. - The new stars will begin debuting on television within the upcoming weeks. - In addition to new stars, WWE is looking to give ECW some talent from the current roster, most notably Hardcore Holly, Simon Dean, Jamie Noble, Kid Kash and The Boogeyman. Also, WWE is talking with David Heath and Lance Storm to make returns to the company for the brand.
