hit the P.A system in the iMPACT Zone and a roar of cheers echoed throughout the arena as out from the tunnel came Sting, the NEW NWA World Champion! Jeremy Borash introduced Sting and named him as "the champion of the world" as clips of his win against Jeff Jarrett at Bound for Glory were shown as he found his way to the ring. When the video clip ended, the cameras were aimed towards the ring so everyone at home could see the presence of the new champion and hear his long awaited speech as champion. "This past Sunday marked a new era for TNA as a whole and marked a new era for myself as well." The crowd roared at hearing the champ speak. "This past Sunday.. with this championship win marked my first major world championship won since the year of 1999! Some viewers have been born since I won my last championship! With the momentum coming from Bound for Glory with the title win, I really feel like I'm at the top of the world.. I feel like I'm the..
'King of the Mountain'!
"My World" by Dale Oliver then hit and out came the self-proclaimed "King of the Mountain" Jeff Jarrett. "Look Sting, no one wants to come out here and hear you read your biography. Shut your mouth and lets get this show on the road. I want my god damn belt back, and I want it back TONIGHT." The fans were equally happy with Jarrett demanding a rematch. Sting started to speak, "Well Jeff.. if that's what you want. That's what you get. I'll do this RIGHT NOW!" Jarrett started to walk down the ramp and then walked back up the ramp chuckling at Sting thinking he would actually get in there. Jarrett says he'll get the match booked for the main event as the show goes to a commercial break and Sting exits the ring to an ovation.
Christopher Daniels defeats Chris Sabin - This match was to showcase the talents of the newly crowned X-Division champion Chris Sabin against an X-Division veteran in Christopher Daniels. Sabin showed a lot of talent in his match and had some pretty spectacular moments in this match but was eventually hit with an "Angel's Wings" and put down for the three count. After the match, Daniels helped Sabin up and reached his hand out as a sign of respect for the new X-Division champion and showed that in their fierce battles, Sabin will still have Daniels respect. Sabin extended his hand and the two shook hands as the cameras transferred to a different segment.
A hype video for the newly signed talent, Kurt Angle was shown on the screens around the world and broadcasted his talents and showed him training. After many bits and pieces of Angle training in the six sided ring it cut to a upper body and face shot of Angle and he proclaimed "It's real.. it's damn real." as the camera shook and the screen went black, ending the segment as the show went to another commercial break.
The cameras returned to the locker room with Kevin Nash, Alex Shelley, and Austin Starr. After seeing the impressiveness of Austin Starr at Bound for Glory, Nash decided instead of going against the X-Division. He'd help with the X-Division. They were all applauding for Austin Starr, the winner of the open battle royal at Bound for Glory. Kevin Nash went on to talk about how proud he was that his boy was able to make the card at Bound for Glory and he wanted to see if Austin could follow up with his momentum as he got him booked on tonight's iMPACT. If he wins, he's out of Paparazzi Productions and ready to move on to the bright lights of the solo role. They started to cheer him on and chant "Starr! Starr! Starr! Starr!" as he exits the locker room and the cameras follow him as he walks to the gorilla position for his entrance.
Monty Brown defeated Austin Starr - This was a squash match for Monty Brown and was clearly a joke between Nash and Shelley against the newcomer in their group. Monty Brown absolutely ripped Austin Starr a new one in this match and ended the match with a very amazing POUNCE before covering him and ending his misery.
After the match Monty Brown goes to celebrate but is cut short with an attack from Christian Cage, the man who beat Rhino in an 8 Mile Street Fight the night before. Cage looks as if he's getting the upperhand when the tables turn and Brown starts to beat down on Christian before he manages to nearly escape the ring. Monty Brown points at him and tells him he's next to get hit with the POUNCE! as Christian Cage holds his mouth and the crowd cheers on with Monty Brown.
The cameras cut backstage to a clip of Homicide and Hernandez finally winning the NWA Tag Team Championships from AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels. The video goes on to show how they got the win and that's that. Suddenly the cameras are rushed backstahge where we see many road agents and several workers holding two men away from each other. The two men: Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe. They were dying to get their hands on each other and we're stopped just by an inch. This was going to become very bad and tear apart TNA in the mean time. The show cut to a commercial break.
Sting defeated Jeff Jarrett to retain the NWA World Heavyweight Championship via DQ - This match proved to be just as great as the match at Bound for Glory. The match showed great action and incredible heat from the crowd. Jarrett almost looked as he was going to win back his Championship from Sting, much to the anger of the Orlando crowd. Out of nowhere,
Abyss ran in the ring with James Mitchell and started causing destruction to Sting! The ref called for the bell and on a count of disqualification, Sting won the match and kept his NWA World Championship.
The bell kept ringing as Jarrett escaped the ring to get out of the grips of "The Monster" Abyss. Abyss laid a beat down on Sting before finally laying him out onto the NWA World Championship with a Black Hole Slam. James Mitchell's voice was the last to be heard announcing that Abyss was Sting's new opponent. The crowd was in shock, Sting was in shock, and most importantly TNA was in for a BIG change of scenery in the World Championship scene. Don West and Mike Tenay end the show for us with yelling, ranting, and raving as Abyss stood tall holding the Championship with James Mitchell at his side.[/ul]
