It's been 10 years since 2 wrestlers have fought on the cell but why don't they do it anymore? Fighting on the roof doesn't mean that you have to be thrown off because the Jericho/HHH match didn't end with a dangerous stunt.

Well Edge and Taker were suppose to fight on top of the cell but apparently there was not enough time. But I must say I really miss fighting on the roof.

The only time I expected it to happy was the DX vs. McMahon's and Show one. I thought at the time that match screamed insane Shane stunt.

I could see CM Punk trying to escape onto the roof. No bump or anything but some brawling possibly.
EDIT: I forgot that we've had a new larger Cell since 2006. Seems unlikely considering that.

I miss the old cell because it was much smaller and it was like the wrestlers were trapped and it really felt like Hell in a cell

It's too high for any bump, and that's the only real reason they'd go up there so there's no point really.

It was cool and all, but IMO, it was overdone back at that time. The point of the cell is that there's no escape. Fighting in the roof should be saved for big feuds only.

I'd love to see it happen this Sunday, but it won't, we'll get the usual HIAC match in every one of them. I for one hate the new Cell, far too big, just doesn't seem 'scary' anymore. However I do remember reading that originally at SummerSlam 2008, Edge was to take a bump off the top of the Cell because they were to use the older Cell, but then when they chose to use the new one instead, which was too high for him.

I'm glad neither happened. I just don't want to imagine how much damage it could've caused to him. IMO, all that match lacked was blood.

punk could try to escape and go up but doubt it. and the last time they went on top of the cell was at raw when john cena gave orton an fu on top of the cell in 2009.

^ And they were damn near literally in the rafters during that moment. I didn't think going from 16 feet to 20 was that significant, but that proved it. Had Foley been tossed off the new one, death would have just been imminent.

Calling it now. Punk throws Ryback off the top of the cell... The cell is way higher than it was before, there would be no way to do it safely

because they chose not to...and escaping the cell defeats it's purpose.

Yeah, the purpose of the roof is to keep the wrestlers inside. It was a fun novelty, but we've pretty much seen anything we're gonna see when it comes to wrestlers falling off or through the cell. We've even seen a pinfall on top of the cell. What more do you want to see? I'd prefer the wrestlers prolong their careers by not putting themselves in unnecessarily dangerous situations.

In terms on not escaping the cell. Brock Lesnar vs Taker was the first actual hell in a cell match imo, it was truly Hell in a Cell.

Too dangerous.
Undertaker and Mankind almost went right through the roof during their match in 1998. The top of the cage actually started breaking.
