Unfortunately, those who would be affected by this message, probably wouldn't do either of these things in the 1st place, but I gotta say this anyway. I have seen numerous posts about people buying 3, 4, 5 or even more of certain figures when they see them in stores. WHY??? If you are buying them to give, or sell(@ cost) then what you are doing is a good thing for others. If you are snatching up a figure with future $ in mind, be it sale through an online auction or to someone you know(@ a markup), then you are scalping. Buying figures up like this means they are not in the store for other people who might really want them. Imagine a 10 year old kid who just got his birthday money & goes to TRU to find a Kevin Nash figure(just an example) and sees somebody holding 3 or 4 of them in a shopping cart, but none on the shelf. It sucks. I've been there. Think about it people. BTW, figure switching is just as bad. If you have a legitimately defective figure that's one thing. Taking back a basic figure in elite packaging so that somebody else ends up w/ it is just as bad as stealing. Imagine that same kid instead settles for an elite 15 Sin Cara. He gets home & opens it, only to discover a basic Sin Cara under the jacket. It's stealing folks. Just the same as if you walked in the store & put the figure under your coat & left. Plain & simple stealing. Disregard this if you are not guilty of ever doing these things, or you simply have no conscience.

Figure switching is bad. And it's very prevalent (at least in my area). I'm surprised stores have not been too keen on this happening. Do you know if it is common with other brands of action figures (superhero, etc.)?

None that I have seen. Unfortunately, Mattel's scale being the same from the basic to the elite line, makes it easier to pull off. Plus, Jakks figures are also close enough in over-all scale for it to usually be successful with these guys as well. The problem w/ retail stores is that unless you have a WWE figure fan or collector working @ the returns desk, they really don;t know what is supposed to be in the package.

I collect half a dozen line of figures and although switching does happen in other lines I have NEVER seen it as bad as I have in WWE Elites. Reason being elie packaging is resealable with little to NO visable detaction to the package ever having been opened

i have walked into walmart countless times with my girlfriend and while going through the toy area picking up 4-5 empty packages and giving them to a employee. No its not wwe they seem to get the switches. So i would say yes it happens with all toys. what i dont understand is why they dont just take prints from inside of package odds are who ever did it wasn't that smart.

It's sad that this is happening to any toy lines. As for the switch that WWEKidCollector posted a pic of, I would tell this individual to rot in the fiery pits. Or something to that effect. I have seen switcharoos in the stores, but in all the ones I have seen they @ least used another WWE figure for the swap. This one took some b***s. Yo would have to be pretty thick to not notice the obvious major differences between picture & package content on that one.

Figure swapping is terrible. However, the buying figures and selling them for more money isn't as big of a deal to me. I don't scalp. Well, unless you count the one occasion that I bought Legends for $6 and sold them for $15. Anyways, I don't hate scalpers. They found the figures, they bought them with their own money. They should be able to sell them for any amount they want. Yes, there is a point where it becomes ridiculous. If someone was going from store to store, and buying every figure from Elite 17 in the entire city of Los Angeles, then selling them online for 3 times the price. That would be a little much. But going to Walmart, seeing 4 Elite 17 Zack Ryders, and buying them all to sell them, isn't a big deal to me at all. I honestly don't see the problem in it (even though I don't do it). I never feel bad for the fictional 10 year old in all these scalping scenarios. He missed out. Tough luck. You can't always get ever figure you're looking for. I live next to a couple scalpers, who's mother is my mom's friend, and told her their entire system, and what day and time they go to Walmart to get the figures. I deal with the scalper problem all the time. But I don't complain.
I'm not saying anyone else's opinion on scalpers is wrong, I'm just saying, this is my opinion.

Grant, I have run across just the scenario you described. When I worked for a large retail store, we had guys who came in virtually every day looking for figures. I talked with employees in other stores throughout the city and surrounding cities and they saw these guys doing the same thing in their stores as well. These guys would buy every figure they could get their hands on, from every store, so that people had no choice but to buy the figures from them @ insane prices, or just not get it. THAT is the kind of thing I have a big problem with. In regards to the pic that was posted of Kelly "Superfly" Kelly, That is just sad. The person who pulled off that crap didn't even bother finding a female toy of approximately the same size. Shame on whoever let that return go through.

I would hate that. But the buying 3 of the same figure, I don't really mind that.

I'm pretty sure the Kelly Kelly figure swap was a joke. Am I right, JuiceWinslow?

What would you say to the guy who did this? That one is pretty creative, what the heck is that toy? Someone not familiar with wrestling can get fooled.
