Farewell, Attack of the Show and X-Play. TVGuide.com is reporting that the two long-running G4 series are coming to an end, as the cable undergoes a rebranding that will turn away from its geek-friendly past.
The final episodes of both will air in December, and leading up to the finale will be rotating guest co-hosts joining current ATOS hosts Candace Bailey and Sara Underwood and X-Play hosts Morgan Webb and Blair Herter, including John Barrowman, Michael Ian Black, Josh Myers, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel and Horatio Sanz.
TVGuide.com says both shows will have a series of farewell episodes that will include former guests and hosts returning, along with re-airing favorite segments from the past, including ATOS’s coverage of San Diego Comic-Con and X-Play’s E3 coverage.
"Attack of the Show and X-Play have been important for G4, and we want to acknowledge the creative people who have helped inspire and showcase the phenomenon of gamer culture," G4 Media general manager Adam Stotsky tells TV Guide. "With more than 3,000 episodes aired between them, we have more than enough great material to honor these innovators and their amazing contributions as we bring both shows to a close."
TVGuide.com says there is talk that G4 may be looking to partner with Esquire or another men’s magazine like GQ as it moves forward into “more upscale, sophisticated guy TV space.” The network may be renamed G4Men, among other possibilities.

Honestly, I stopped watching when Kevin left. I feel for everyone who may or may not be out of a job. I wish them the best.

These two shows, and Cops are literally the only reason I watch(ed) G4. I miss the old days with shows like Arena and Icons and CHEAT!. At least Kevin has a new viral video show of some kind coming out on SyFy.
I'll miss you Candace, Sara, Morgan, and Adam.

Sean, Adam left before Kevin. Maybe you didn't know or you forgot, either way, just putting it out there. I agree with you big time.
And for fans of Kevin, he's got a podcast now. It's called 'Pointless.' They've done two episodes, I just listened to the second, it was hilarious.
You can find them on DeathSquad.TV. The DeathSquad is the group consisting of Joe Rogan, Joey Diaz, Duncan Trussell, Ari Shaffir, etc. A huge handful of great comedians. I strongly encourage you to check it out.

So...they're going to jump on the bandwagon of modern tv networks and do a hodgepodge channel filled the brim with reality tv shows that vaguely (at best) fit the theme of the new network? Count me out. Again.

Sad I posted this on facebook about ten minutes ago the end of X play www.joystiq.com/2012/10/26/g4-ending-x-play-attack-of-the-show/so many great memories of this show over the years... going over to James's chilling watching xplay... and it will wnd at the end of this year. Xplay started in 2003,..but alot of people seem to forget it was around for alot longer, since the late 90's as extended play and gamespot tv back on the ZDTV network( and techtv) before they merged with G4. AOTS was ok...but i was not their biggest fan..to many ego's and lame ass jokes.. I'm looking at you Kevin Pereira and Olivia Munn..... ( sorry i just didn't like that pair) |

G4 was awesome when it first premiered. I used to watch hours of it everyday. It started to suck in like, 2005.

Those two shows haven't been anything special in a long long time. When Kevin left, I just knew that the show was done.. Candace would be the only reason I watched now. I'm thinking G4 will now become another Spike TV.

Never cared for AOTS and X-Play died years ago for me, and of course my opinion on X-Play got even lower when Sessler left. I'm a bit surprised how G4 constantly makes my opinion of them even lower. That said, I've invested a lot of time in X-Play way back when so I'll definitely be watching the final episode(s) but once those air I'll [probably] never visit that station again.

I liked it when it was back on ZDTV gamespottv with Adam Sessler and Lauren Fielder... course i liked it before the whole G4 take over... I loved shows like scerwed with martin sargeant, internet tonight, call for help, the screen savers,... and Nerd Nation. great times. then when G4 took over,..it because an ego fest of what snarky attitude can we get away with...

It's been pretty widely speculated that G4 is being rebranded completely, so this is really no surprise.
Sad, though. I love me some Candace Bailey and Sara Underwood.

That channel has went downhill in the past few years that my cable company dropped them awhile back. Give it a few months and that channel will be dead
