I don't know of any others made with Gold Pads. I know the HAO LOD's were all pretty limited though. If I had $300-400 to fork out on them I'd buy a set.

Really love the detail in these figures - the best Hawk head I've ever seen. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of big expressions on figure faces, so the Animal head will never sit right. One thing I appreciated with the Lesnar figure was the addition of a bigger chest - where as here there needed to be more bulk around the torso. Hawk and (even more so) Animal were huge guys. The Mattel bodies really don't do them justice (see here: d1s11jhccim4uj.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/IMG_7152.jpg). Did you consider modifying them in this sense? The titles look great (I'm sure the leather straps add fantastic authenticity) and the idea for the entrance theme (especially the length) is a welcome addition. Can't wait to see what you have in store next. |

Can't wait to see what you have in store next. I thought about adding some bulk to them but ultimately didn't because I liked that Mattel depicted them close to their physical primes. Hawk's traps probably could've been bigger and I don't recall Animal ever being quite that ripped but as idealized versions of them, I thought they were cool. Also, I'd consider it a shame to display them without their pads (and I've always found them a pain to snap together in the back) so most of the detail on any body mods would be largely lost. I'm interested in your opinion on expressions on figures. Can you expand on that a bit? I'm working on a custom face sculpt now where I'm not convinced that a distinct expression (versus a more stoic neutral face) is the way to go. Thank you. Thank you for the kind words. |
