Everyone that buys and sells stuff online, be prepared to start paying more at the Post Office. International buyers are going to take the biggest hit, but prices are going up across the board starting Jan. 27th.
For an example, within the US, a loose figure that weighs 4-5 oz. and normally costs $1.81-$1.98 to ship will now cost $2.24-$2.41. Basically, all First Class Mail packages sent within the US will cost 43 cents more. It doesn't seem like much, but it adds up if you do a lot of buying and selling. Priority Mail and Parcel Post are also up if you ship stuff that weighs more than 13 oz., including Flat Rate boxes.
Now for the international, and these price increases are crazy. A 5 oz. (most loose figures are this weight) package that today costs $3.60 to ship to Canada will cost $8.55 on the 27th.
The same 5 oz. package that today costs $6.90 to ship to Europe (UK, Germany, Netherlands, etc.) will cost $12.75 on the 27th.
A 5 oz. package that costs $6.90 to ship to Australia and Asia today will cost $12.15 on the 27th.
So international is looking at spending twice or more than what they pay now for shipping. I just wanted to give a heads up since international buyers already complain about high shipping costs and they're not getting any better. Expect RSC, eBay sellers, and others to raise their shipping prices too so they don't lose money on shipping.

That sucks for us international collectors, especially when 9 times out of 10 we're getting overcharged anyway plus the customs.

and with the awesome fees that ebay charges you on what you charge for shipping, that means ive got to charge an extra 10% on top of that just to break EVEN.

F'n suck!! I hope thet have Elite 21 for preoder before that. If it's already ordered, I would think they wouldn't charge you any more than you've already paid. Would someone from RSC confirm? I have several pre-orders already paid for that come out after the increase.

It's still cheaper than flying to the country to get the stuff you want.

That sucks but it doesn't effect me too much. Most people that sell on Ebay overprice the shipping anyway to make an extra few bucks.

Gosh, I so hate the USPS....Any other business in the history of the world adjusts to the changes except the USPS. Everyone else is supposed to adjust for them. Any other business loses your product or messes something up, it's their fault and they attempt to make it right with the customer. Not the USPS, if they lose a package it is your fault for not paying them more to add insurance or a DC #.
Seriously, the USPS is not needed anymore! US Government needs to stop bailing them out and we as customers need to stop using them for their service. It's terrible service anyways.

US Government needs to stop bailing them out and we as customers need to stop using them for their service. It's terrible service anyways. First off, you pay for insurance with other shippers in their up-front price. The Post Office doesn't do that. If they did, you'd complain you were gonna pay more. Second, the US Government does not pay a dime to the USPS. The USPS has not directly received taxpayer-dollars since the early 1980s with the minor exception of subsidies for costs associated with the disabled and overseas voters. Since the 2006 all-time peak mail volume, after which Congress passed the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act", (which mandated $5.5 billion per year to be paid into an account to pre-fund retiree health-care, 75 years into the future—a requirement unique to this agency), revenue dropped sharply due to recession-influenced declining mail volume, prompting the postal service to look to other sources of revenue while cutting costs to reduce its budget deficit. What the government did in a Lame Duck session in 2006 was create a mandate designed to end the Post Office. No other company needs to fund it's retirees that far into the future. That includes workers not even born yet. The Post Office is mandated by the Constitution, btw, and with the $5.5 billion it needs to squirrel away by law the Post Office is in danger of losing enough money to put it out of business. It cannot afford to upgrade or rebuild it's infrastructure because Congress makes it pay out so much every year. Do they kinda suck? Yes. But the Post Office is the largest single employer of veterans in the nation. They still handle more mail and packages than anyone else in the world and deliver them without issue 99.9% of the time. So rather than harp on the fact that they have to increase their costs (and it will affect me directly living in Canada with relatives and business in the States), but they have to do something. They have already laid off thousands of workers, closed post offices and distribution centers, and fully funded their pension to tune of $33 billion because Republicans in congress want to kill them so FedEx and UPS can get the mail business (they spent millions in lobbying before 2006 and millions more since).

A Canadian putting us Americans in our place! Thanks for the information, I've been wondering about that and what we can do to overturn congress decision
