Sad news out of the Hendrick camp. Andrew Collier, one of the engine machinists, his brother, Officer Sean Collier is the officer who was killed in the shootout early Friday morning with the Boston bombing suspects. My thoughts and condolences go to Andrew and the Collier family this sad time.

I think there oughta be some kind of penalty on Keselowski. He had sheet metal hanging off his car for several laps. Jr. came in for a green flag stop and when he did, the sheet metal flew off, bringing out the yellow, and Jr. fell a lap down. They penalize you two laps if you knowingly cause a caution - stopping on the track, knowing you have a tire going down and letting it blow out, etc. - and sorry, but Brad had to of known that was hanging and he just kept running without bringing the car in to fix it.
Mad that the last 3 races have been won by the polesitter. Makes for boring races iyam. If only that streak were to continue when Jr gets a pole.....

Penalties looming for Matt Kenseth. In the second post-race inspection, one of the connecting rods in his engine was found to not meet the minimum weight. They threw the book at Brad and Joey over shocks, so Kenseth should get the same penalties. 25 points, crew chief fined $100,000 and suspended 6 races.

This is nothing like the Penske Racing rear-end modifications. Penske sat there with the rule book and found an area to work around despite the fact it was a pretty clear rule. Joe Gibbs Racing isn't at fault for this engine problem because they didn't build it, Toyota Racing Development did. Very different situations that shouldn't be compared penalty wise.
Maybe Joe Gibbs Racing will tell Toyota Racing Development to pull their head out of the freaking asses now. This is pretty much the standard TRD issue with reliability because they are lucky - in a way - that the engine lasted. .3 grams is not a lot and isn't a competitive edge, but I understand NASCAR throwing the book at them.
But still.. I don't understand how something on purpose < something on accident.

They really just wanted to set an example, but this doesn't sound like the case to do that in. I think him winning the race is a big part of it, but I don't think his engine gave him any advantage. TRD says the Rod pin weighed over so that it balanced out the Rod weighing less or whatever it was. Nascar does some crazy stuff sometimes like a few yrs back fining the guy who was a spot filler basically because his engine wasn't in specs because the damn thing was wore out. It was a local team filling a spot. Can't remember who it was and what came of it. Ended up costing the guy thousands to race if it wasn't overturned.

Im willing to bet the points penalty stands but the fines and suspensions will either be cut in half or completely removed. Whether the engine was Toyota's fault or JGR fault, it still was illegal and factored in to them winning a race. If the engine is disqualified so should the win/points.

His car was illegal and his name isn't Jimmie Johnson, so I don't see this being reduced. Johnson on the other hand, it's be completely reversed.

Everyone - not here but online - is ignoring that Matt would have won that race regardless. This is not something you'd do to one rocker arm to get an advantage. It'd be different if it was all of them.. but it was only one of them. Put the "correct" weight on it.. Matt still would've kicked ass.

So what JGR is appealing is the severity of the #20 penalties. They know that there will be penalties but the amount of them. If they do anything, it'll be reduced. They won't eliminate any part of the penalties.

Eh, the Busch no call on the pit was a good no call. You cant say for certain he got both tires across but you cant say he didnt either. A no call on that is probably best quite honestly. I am glad he wrecked though.

Couldn't clearly tell if he did or didn't, and since they called the penalty, it should have stayed. His brother proved he hasn't changed. Poor Martin Truex Jr. Wrecked for no reason.

So apparently when Kurt Busch pushes someone out of the way, its fine cause its a "free for all" but when it happens to him, he feels the need to beat and bang on cars in disapproval.

Good win for Harvick. Glad to see RCR get that win, glad to see Harvick get another for Richard before he leaves for SHR. Awesome to see Jr. get a top 10 tonight too.

"We aren't sure if this is a legal move, so we're going to penalize you and call it illegal. Again, we're not sure you broke a rule.. but screw you. Go to the rear!" Yes, because this is a brilliant rule that NASCAR should have. We'll call something that we're unsure about illegal, because that's fair to the drivers.

Eh, there is a good point of the "if you call the penalty it should stand" like how it is in other sports. When a car is going 55-60mph you cant exactly tell if 3/4 of an inch of a tire touches paint or not. It really falls back on Nascar though. Either you review all penalties (which they might or might not do, Im not sure) or just stick to what you call and if its wrong then its wrong.
