Here's clearer pics. The butthurt on FB is astoundashing. And the lack of intelligence is hilarious. Oh god I know LMAO. It's fans like that that make me stay away from the NASCAR Facebook page.

I love how butthurt everyone over Austin getting the #3, and they're just regurgitating what Kevin Harvick said when he and Ty had that disagreement. How Austin is spoiled and an untalented driver. He won the Nationwide Series championship without a single win. Tell me that doesn't take talent. To be consistent for 33 races, and win a series championship wwithout winning a race. First time in NASCAR history, may I add. No one else has done that.
Plus, everyone thinks their opinions of the situation matter. Like Richard has to ask every single fan if they are alright with it. The biggest person that would need to be in approval of it, though even he has no say, is Dale Jr. And Jr. is 100% supportive. He said he always knew the number would come back, and he's glad it's someone like Austin getting it because Austin understands the history and appreciates the lineage that goes with that number. I'm not saying Austin is gonna go out and win 36 races next season and a series title but he'll be right up there with the top guys week in and week out, I think, and I'll be cheering him the whole way along. I'm even gonna ask for a #3 Dow Chemical t-shirt for Christmas. Yes I'm serious.

The only reason I'm not getting a #3 Dow hat is because I don't like the hats that have the logo to one side of the hat. That's pretty much the only reason. I could care less about Austin driving the 3, it's just a number. This isn't other sports where you have some 30 odd regionally based teams who can afford to retire numbers. This is NASCAR, where teams have to share 110 numbers and you have up to 60 teams running different numbers a season. NASCAR hasn't allowed teams to run triple digits since the 60s, and they have no plans to let them run triple digits anytime soon. Richard let the 3 sit for 12 years to let fans remember and reflect and now its time for somebody else to create their own legacy in that number. I remember in 2009 when they announced that Austin would drive the 3 in Trucks and I was so against it. Years have passed now and I have come to peace with the fact that it's time to move on. If people were this butthurt i can't imagine what people thought when Geoff Bodine was gonna run the 7 or how Ernie Irvan was gonna drive the 28 or anything.

My point exactly. No one was this butthurt over Geoff Bodine in the #7, Ernie Irvan or Dale Jarrett or Kenny Irwin in the #28. How about John Andretti or Bobby Labonte or Aric Almirola in the #43? If we're talking retired numbers, the #43 should be the first to go. And why is the #42 still running? Kenny Irwin died at NHIS while he was in the #42. And yes, I know there is a huge difference between Dale Earnhardt and Kenny Irwin, but if we're gonna start retiring numbers because someone died while racing said number, how are we gonna decide what driver is good enough for a number retirement?
