I've been asking why wrestlers wear trunks for 30 years and I've never found an answer. It's never made sense to me because it doesn't reflect any of the combat sport counterparts: Boxing- loose trunks MMA- loose trunks (for the most part) Freestyle/GR wrestling- singlets Yet pro wrestlers feel the need to perform in their underwear? It is freaking GROSS. I have never seen guys wrestle in their underwear. If you think it is underwear and you still watch, then you are gay. Wrestlers have many options-trunks, bicycle shorts, long tights, loose pants, loose shorts, singlets, etc. It is just that certain types of attires like loose shorts are associated with being a jobber while others are more associated with main eventers. I hate to be the one who breaks the news to you, but trunks are nearly identical to underwear briefs. It's common knowledge. I've heard countless wrestlers say that there is always an adjustment period for them as they get used to feeling like they are in front of tens of thousands of people while wearing nothing but their underwear. Some guys might not think it's nasty to see a guy's butt cheek flop out of the side of his tights or see the outline of his package, but I will never care for that. Like I said, it's GROSS.
