Balotelli is clearly the next Pope. He's already moved back to Italy in preperation.

Pope Benedict IV is the first pope to resign his position since the 1400s. On another note, I thought you had to die as Pope in order to be relinquished of that spot, I never knew the Pope had the right to resign just because he doesn't feel like doing what he does anymore. Aren't you chosen to be the Pope like it's a sacred choice or something? Apologizes if I'm being ignorant towards the matter.

Chris Kluwe had some good tweets about it, and this is my favorite:

Who's the second string Pope? Do they look at stats, like "least children molested", or "most gays discriminated" when choosing? #socurious

I can't imagine them picking a Pope from Africa. Catholicism just isn't that strong there to my knowledge. I could see them picking one from the Americas, but that's a long shot. They'll pick the standard white guy from Europe that they always pick. Historic event though to see a Pope resign. First time since the Great Schism ended. Edit. Turkson has advocated for a centralized world bank and a "global public authority". How freaky is that?

LoL What are you talking about? I've never heard a conspiracy theory involving the Catholic Church wanting to run the government.

I also thought this and went to catholic school so it shows how much i knew.

They'll pick the standard white guy from Europe that they always pick. by 2025, 1/6th of all catholics are expected to be african. by 2001 40% of all cardinals were african, and there's been a lot of talk over an african pope being a wise decision. check out 'roman catholicism in africa' on wikipedia. has it's on very informative page. i knew that catholicism had been focussing on 3rd world nations heavily, but not this heavily.

How strange is this? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prophecy_of_the_PopesIt was published in 1595 and says the current Pope is the last Pope before the next Pope destroys everything. The Pope that destroys everything is named Peter. Strange that the front runner for the next Pope is Peter Turkson.
