The WWE's problem isn't the number of titles they have, it's how those titles are booked. If the World title was treated as something as important as the WWE championship then the fans who watch would agree, but seeing as it is being booked as a step below the WWE title that is how the fans are treating it.The I.C. & US titles are treated as jokes considering nearly everyone of those champions ends up losing to the nearly every one they face until they have to defend those titles. I would love to see the I.C. & US champions treated better by the "writers" and have them actual win matches on a more frequent basis, especially when they face guys who are "higher" on the card. Pretty much this. From 2002-2005 the WWE title was the secondary title compared to the World Heavyweight Title. Whatever title that was on RAW was the title that meant the most. Now every champion is on every show and its just too much clutter. |

There is one WWE Champion. His name is Dwayne. There's also a World Heavyweight champion, Intercontinental, US, Divas, NXT, and the WWE and NXT Tag Team champions. None of the belts are on equal footing with each other. The UFC has like 7 belts, why does WWE need to have one or two or three?

As much as I enjoy having the extra belt to not have the title circle around one person forever, I feel like creating two world titles has pushed some people into the spotlight before they should have been. I feel like I enjoyed watching people like Edge, Christian, Shawn, Jericho, Mysterio and others win the "big one" because they legitimately worked their ass off for years to get to the top rank. Watching guys now win the title like Sheamus, Del Rio, Swagger, Miz, etc.. who basically had about a year or less of feuds with people, it just doesn't spark my interest. Guys like Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, etc.. created tons of lasting memories and a great connection with the audience before they were pushed into the main event scene. It didnt just happen overnight and I feel like thats what they're doing with a lot of guys today. They're looking for that next star immediately and really no ones there.

Obviously, but my bigger point is that the UFC has 7 divisions, all different weight classes. The WWE, not being a real competition, doesn't use weight classes but instead basically how over people are. So, their "divisions" are separated by popularity: the main eventers for the WWE, the upper tier for the World Heavyweight, the mid card guys with the US/IC, etc. |

What's stupid is having 2 champions. It worked well when the brands were split but now what's the point? Did you watch the WWE in the 90's? Yes,i did. They had 1 champion..i get it. But if we had only 1 main title Cena will be taking up all the spotlight. The brands are still split...Guys like Dolph Ziggler,Jack Swagger,Wade Barret can compete for the WHC...and guys like Punk,Cena,The rock,etc...can compete for the WWE title. It's not still split... I wish they'd unify personally. |

It seems the primary concern is bring greater Prestigue to the championships by eliminating unneeded titles,
Which is why I propose Cesaro retire the United States Championship in 140 some odd days when he surpasses MVP's reign as longest run since WWE reintroduced it.
Keeps two primary titles for house show draws & suddenly brings the IC belt back into it's workhorse title status..

I think there should be 3 titles (3 levels if you will)
The US Title at the bottom of the pile, give the new guys, youngsters and lower level talent something to fight for. Also used to elevate these guys to the next level.
Then the IC Title. For the middlemen, the guys who have gained some popularity off the US title can then be elevated to IC and this is also used to push guys into the main event.
The World Title is the top for the top guys to compete over.
Little things that cheese me off are when guys have been World champ, but then they go back and win the IC or US Titles. I always feel that once you've won the world, you should go back to the IC title level at all.
Also, for goodness sake, please don't get rid of the prestigious looking, classy world heavyweight belt and keep only the plastic crappy new kids wwe belt. It sucks.

I agree with the OP.
The main reason people don't like the idea is because it means less guys in the main event (and the main Title being held by the Cenas, Punks and Sheamus of the company). My argument would be, there are too many guys floating around the main event and WWE/ World Title scene as it is. A problem which could be easily solved by having guys drop back into the mid-card scene and make it, and the IC Title, actually worth a damn.
There are more guys floating around the main event than there are in the whole IC/ US and Tag Divisions combined.
Essentially what I'm saying is it seems in WWE today you're either a main event guy or nothing much at all. That needs to change. We don't need two World Titles, it defeats the point of being the World Champion when there are two of you in one company. Simple as.

The World Heavyweight title means absolutely nothing and hasn't meant anything since Undertaker and Batista held it. Stop acting like it's part of the main event or that it gives guys like Sheamus and Del Rio a chance to main-event. That belt is just a prop.
Also, it's so dumb having to explain to people the differences between a WWE Championship and a World Heavyweight Championship.
There should just be one undisputed champion.

Back in the 80's when WWE was first expanding nationally they had two touring schedules. Brand A would get Hogan & one of the other belts (usually Tag Team) while Brand B was almost entirely main evented by the I.C. Championship, except on weekends when Hogan would work a double shot. I can't see why the current travel schedule can't be adapted to do the same thing.
At the very least this should help eliminate one or two useless championships. If I had to chose right now I would drop the IC & US and just keep the WWE & World Championships (the two nicer looking belts). Right now I swear the US title is only there to help build interest in the WWE by the US military personnel (which is something the WWE has NEVER needed, as the US military seems fairly devoted to them). The IC title has been a joke ever since it was reintroduced after being unified with the Undisputed title back when Jeff Hardy fought the Taker (if I remember correctly).

Perhaps the WWE probably wants to sell more replicas and toy belts so they have two main championships...
It would be interesting if both the WHC and the WWE title did unify.. There was a hint of it from Dolph Ziggler not too long ago in the Elimination Chamber PPV if I'm not mistaken... But it was never fulfilled as he failed to win it..

The hole two world title scene should have never happend,but if they really wanted to it should have onlyl lasted a few years.God knows that the World Title is basically a mid card title anyways and hasn't main event a PPV in what two years or more.Plus everyone knows that the WWE Title>World Title and with one title it would have cut down on the laughable amount of title wins by Cena,Edge,Orton,Triple H...ect and always would have kept guys like Swagger,Kahli,Ziggler(at the point when he had) and others that never should have had reigns.
The hole argument of needing two world titles for house shows is BS.The WWE has run house shows for ever dating back to the very begging and didn't need to world champions.Just look at how they did things in the 80's and early 90's were you would have the WWF Champion at the top of one show and on the other the #2 babyface and or the IC Champion headlining the other.Work fine and would work fine today.
The lastly with one world champion maybe just maybe the IC,US and Tag Team titles would actually mean more and have some real storylines behind them.Their's nothing wrong with a top guy after being a former world champion and in the main event scene moving down to take one of those title or foruming a tag team.The old NWA/WCW did this all the time with guys like Flair,Sting,Hart....ect winning the mid card titles after winning the big one.

Having one WWE Champion.. Just like the good old days.
It was the merger with WCW and the WWE draft that started this whole thing actually.. Remember back then, they merged both the WHC and the WWE (it was the WWF back then) Championship to form one title, the Undisputed WWE Championship. Then when the WWE draft came about to have separate brands due to the high number of people in the roster, thats when they reintroduced the WHC for RAW and the Undisputed WWE Championship for Smackdown. The rest is history....

They united the Womens and Tag titles but why have they still not united the WWE and World title? The world title has had it's day and 1 champion is much better and has more of an impact than 2 so if the world title is retired the IC could become important again and act as the secondary title like it used to. I agree completely. I was always against having two world title belts, and now it's even more problematic with the lack of main event talent in the company. The US and IC belts should be the focal points of the respective shows while the WWE champ should occasionally perform on both shows, but not so often that it doesn't seem special. |

Compare that to how many Main Event/Upper Mid Card guys they have and you'll have your answer. If they combined the titles, you'd start bitching that noone other than Cena and Punk got runs with the title. |

Two belts works well, the wwe title should go with the main eventers/top guys.
And the heavyweight title belongs with the second tier/on the rise guys.
