It's not really Ryder that should be to "blame", it's more-so the people (Marketing Team, I'm assuming) who decided to run with the idea that are to "blame"...

I agree with ryder, its a not a coincidence they moved his show to there channel and went nuts with the concept after seeing its potential. i remember thinking this exact thing after he was getting more exposure. when New York chants for ryder while the rock is in the ring.....thats power. too bad it was squandered.

I read about this yesterday, and yes, I agree, Ryder's YouTube show definitely pushed the social media stuff from WWE into overdrive, which I see as inevitably having to happen, but not a huge fan of.

I think WWE would have eventually going to a very similar route w/ social media regardless since there really is no way to avoid doing so, BUT I do think he problably brought it to WWE's attention and shocked them with how much he got himself over, therefore problably lighting the fire under their asses to push it fast.

Kudos to the guy for all the effort he put in to try & make himself a star, even though he's doing nothing now, it worked, it was an amazing time & it was mid 2011 when I became a huge Ryder fan. He's a lot smarter than people realize or give him credit for.

If that moron is the reason for this social media bullsh*t then I just have yet another reason to dislike the little intellectually- disabled person.

I think saying Ryder is to blame is a better way to put it.

I've never watched an episode of Z! True Long Island Story so it's safe to say that I'm oblivious to most things Zack Ryder, but I will give credit where credit is due; Zack made himself and he should be proud of his accomplishments.
Of course, it's all subjective when we assess importance to one figure over another in a movement such as WWE's to become engaged in social networking, but who else (in the wrestling business) besides Zack Ryder was as synonymous with the world of social media before WWE force-fed it down our throats every week? Nobody else comes to mind.
Now, I wouldn't go so far as to say that Zack's foray into social media has had a profound impact on the business, because it hasn't. WWE would have found their way to Facebook, Twitter, and the like without Zack's presence; he just made things a little easier by testing the waters, albeit unbeknownst to him, before WWE had the courage to dip their toes in.
More power to him if he wants to believe that he's played a bigger role in the current landscape of pro wrestling, specifically "the WWE Universe", but just how big may be in fact clouded by his own ego and illusions of grandeur. He has John Cena to thank for a lot of the casual fans noticing him at all when Zack held the U.S. Championship.
Also, I guess it's better to hang your hat on that (the career-altering rise attributed to his YouTube show) than to contemplate "What ifs" related to Zack's run-ins with Masked Kane and Eve Torres.
