I used to love going to TRU and finding Hasbros. They always had a good selection of them when they first came out. My first two figs were Jake Roberts and Warrior in his white attire.
As for playing with the figs, since I was a little younger when Hasbros were out I would just switch out the figs and play up the current storylines and characters. However, once BCAs came out, I started doing my own angles and characters. I even had a fig fed here on the forums for a while back in the day.

...great thread....as a kid, I had no idea Barry Darsaw was the Repo Man...or Smash, for that matter, never made the connection!? I always saw them as characters, not people, you know, so it never mattered to me... I did however recognize him as a golfer in WCW, I was so disappointed that that guy was Smash

Galoob Arn.Sting,Flair and Barry always had a presence in my fed.they did their own thing too. I remember having many epic battle between Demolition,The rockers,The Steiners (Galoob) and Doom for the Tag team Titles. in the end,The Bushwhackers of all teams ended up as my longest reigning champions. Dibiase bought their contracts and used them as hired muscle, but also did an angle where he got them educated at the best schools. they even changed their names from Luke to Lucas and Butch to Bartholomew! they would act all civil during promos, but Ted had a secret word that would trigger them to turn back int othe crazy men of old, and whenever they'd have a match, and things looked bleak,Dibiase would whisper that word in their ears and they'd go crazy, destroying their opponents! they finally were dethroned by LOD. Christ help me.

haha...
I had Crush as both. When I got Evil Crush, I would make him face then heel as I pleased.
I also used the TMNT figures as wrestlers. Splinter made a hell of a manager for the four turtles faction.
Bebop and Rocksteady were my tag team champions at some point if I remember correctly.
The good old days!!!

Christ help me. Nothing wrong with that! Simply an amalgamation of crazy stuff we've we've seen in pro wrestling throughout the years anyway  I don't think I said it before, but I don't remember having angles or feuds with my toys. I just had them beat each other up!

Splinter made a hell of a manager for the four turtles faction. Bebop and Rocksteady were my tag team champions at some point if I remember correctly. The good old days!!! I was doing the wrestling stuff before the WWF figures came out,and I initially used my Turtle figures. I distinctly remember Raphael was my 1st World Champion. then he lost the title in his first defense, against Casey Jones, his friend and ally who turned heel on him out of the blue and beat him for the Belt with a huge amount of outside interference. then Raph spent month chasing Casey for the title, until e finally won it back. by that point the Hasbro figures were out,so I slowly intergrateed them into my wrestling federation as I got more and more of them. then I started getting the Galoob WCW figures, and they were added. then I got the proper WWf ringto finally have my matches in. by that point I had phased most of the Turtle figures out. I honestly can't believe I remember all this. we're talking 20+ years ago!!

I have a question. What did you guys do when you didn't know or just forgot a wrestler's finisher or theme music?
Lets say, Repo Man. I have no idea even now what his finisher is, but I can google it. I couldn't back then so I would've given him a really crap name like 'the repo drop'. And I do remember giving Smash a finisher called 'the Smash hit'.
(Lots of Barry darsow memories)

lol i also love this topic btw garose74 i love your pic of diesel and hbk! i wonder if we did get a hasbro diesel if thats what he would have looked like...any way on topic, yes repo man was a different person in my collection... often in a faction group with million dollar man and irs.... i thought demolition was best when it was ax and smash so i got kona crush and oddly enough back then like pairing him with adam bomb... i had no idea that years later the 2 would team up but i loved it.

I used to call kona crush just Kona, evil crush was called evil K, and demolition crush was plain old crush. Shawn Michaels was the white version, HBK was the black version and the rockers figure was just called Rockershawn (all one word - abit like when Billy Gunn was rockerbilly) same with Rockermarty and then Marty Janetty. Apart from the Hogans and the warriors and yoko I used all of them as different wrestlers. Black million dollar man was Mr Bucks, Green was the actual MDM and the tights one was Ted Dibiase

Lol. Great topic, I used to invent factions/ tag teams. I created an unstoppable team of British Bulldog And The Butcher (Ed Leslie) and called them 'Power House'. They destroyed everyone in their path and had great hard-hitting power moves. Another team I created was the 'Canadian Connection' Featuring Rick Martel & Jaques Rougeou. My fav tag team though was the 'Blood Hounds' Bret Hart & British Bulldog (sometime before Power House!) and they dominated the tag team scene. I also had a different version of the Hart Foundation, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, British Bulldog, Rowdy Roddy Piper and Rick Martel. I diddnt have Anvil back then and they seemed like suitable replacements! Best match I ever did was a Razor Ramon Vs Shawn Michaels Ladder match, using a bit of wood as a ladder. It tore the house down. Id still play with them now if society deemed it acceptable!

LOL! yeah,I look at my Legends,Flashbacks, Defining Moments,Entrance Greats, and all other classic figures I have from Mattel and wish I could time machine them back to 1990-1991. I would've had a blast with them!

I actually "stopped" playing with toys in 1992 I stopped around 1990 witht he Dick Tracy movie figure, so I missed the Hasbro toys to actually play with. Yet I had a single LJN Magnificent Muraco - by the time I had him I never catched him on TV, so I didn't know much of him except that he was a wrestler and hence was cool. I used him as a giant alongside my Star Wars, G.I Joes and Masters of the Universe. He-Man and Co sometime had gladiatorial combat against him, in front of either Skeletor or Jabba the Hutt decadent coliseum

mind you,I started right back up again in 1994 with Spawn,WildC.A.T.S, Savage Dragon, Star Trek : TNG, then Star Wars in 1995. then the BCA line in 1996. and haven't ever stopped since. only difference is I didn't actually play with them anymore, just collect them.
I remember that Dick Tracy line! EVERY villain was so frigging hard to find!!

I collected vintage Star Wars figs at yard sales and also started back re-buying some from the store alongside Star Trek and some Batman in the mid-1990's. To this day I'm hooked, and started getting back wrestling figure a few years ago now. Hasbro grabbed me by the cartoony style that emphasized the bigger than-life character. Started by a few trade and slowly builded-up a decent lineup of wrestler I liked as a kid. The figure I used as a kid in a wrestling-league like manners were Battle beast. They would train, fight, allies and double cross each others in tournament in the stories I putted them in

Yep, before I got a big collection of Hasbro's I had like Ghostbusters, a Mr Miyagi figure, Dick Tracy and other action figures. Mostly this was when I had the LJN Bendies (smaller ones) of JYD, Mr Wonderful, Andre, JYD & The Animal. Had a Michael Jackson doll display figure which had like a red leather jacket which I used for Sting. There was also like a blue miltary jacket with the sash which Sting wore too similar to his ring gear at the time in WCW. I think MJ wrestled as like a giant too as it was like 5/6 times the size of the Hasbro's!. Don't think I used any non-Hasbros or LJN bendies when I had a bigger collection but maybe used the other figures as jobbers.

Here's one nobody mentioned.
I actually used Yokozuna 2 as Yokozuna's twin brother Shinju. At the time, Shinju was Hakushi's manager in WWF. I don't know how anyone could beat 2 Yokozunas!
