So I decided that I'm gonna do a custom. Never done one before, I had a few questions.
1. What are some good tips/steps on paint small details or painting in general? I read some of the stuff in the FAQ but I'm sure there is more.
2. Any tips on facial hair stubble?
3. I know there are many different types of sealer out there, but whats a good kind to start off with?
For anyone wondering, I'm hoping to turn my DA 3 Shawn Michaels into a DA Alex Shelley. I'm anxious to see how it turns out.

1. Use a toothpick or a pushpin, and be patient. You can use really small brushes too, and I kinda shape the bristles into a small point with my mouth to get it to be the cleanest possible. Also, you can make a design then smooth out the edges with the surrounding color.
2. Dry brush: take a somewhat crappier brush and dip it in some paint, then paint on a piece of paper until the paint is just about gone, then paint on the figure. If it is too thick in some areas, scratch off a little bit with a toothpick/pin/fingernail.
3. I'll leave this for someone else, as I dont seal my figures, and both kinds of sealer that I have kinda sucks.
Are you planning on using a different head or the Micheals head?

Yeah. I'm mainly gonna work on the pants first, to practice with my painting. Then move up to the upper body, where I'll practice switching arms because they are way too big IMO. Then I'll move to the head. I'd like to use something other then a Haas or Chris Jericho head, but We'll See.

So I've read the FAQ about what kind of paint to get and the sealer and whatnot, but I have another question.
As far as DAs go, what is the best method on painting the extra joints, expecially the upper thigh ones?

Thank you so very much for using this same post- AND reading the FAQ. Maybe some of the idiots who post here will follow your example.
Anyways, what people have talked about in the custom discussions thread is painting them and using superglue to seal them. I dont know quite how this works, but I know that brushable superglue is the way to go.
