Put yourself in the shoes of Spurs fans (I'd ask Spurs fans, but the only one I can think of is Titch and he'd probably just respond with something along the lines of "BALEbaleBalebALEGAZZAB"). Which would you rather, if your club was in their position? Win a major European trophy but come 5th and likely lose your star player, or come 4th in place of silverware, possibly keep Bale (but he may still go if a huge club come along) and play CL football next year?
Think I'd take the trophy, 4th could easily be forgotten if it didn't become a regular thing (as Spurs showed to an extent in 2010/11 and Everton showed clearly in 2005/06) but a trophy like the EL being won would be remembered for years.

Would take the trophy, can see Bale leaving either way though. Think he'll be going to Madrid or City.

I'd win the Europa and finish 5th. The only thing you'd miss out on is the money.
No doubt Spurs fans would want 4th though, especially after last season. Don't think I can blame them mind if they did.

I'd probably want to win the Europa and finish 5th. Us Spurs fans always abuse Arsenal for not winning a trophy in the last eight years, yet they've been in the CL for all of that time. A Europa League win would be a massive statement, maybe keep Bale for another season, and make us even more appealing to players with a Super Cup appearance and better squad.
Fourth doesn't guarantee entry into the group stages either, which we nearly messed up in 2010/11. Third would be great and guarantees the money to make our squad stronger next season to put a better challenge in for the domestic cups.
It's a tough one, but I'd probably take the trophy.

Europa League and 5th any day of the week. Winning Europa League something you would always remember where 4th just gets you money.

Win the Europa League and finish 5th. That being said, I don't think they'll win the Europa League, but I do think they'll finish 5th. Still gutted we didn't win it back in 2010

Win the Europa League and finish 5th. I don't get the stigma that the Europa League holds. People regard it as a sh*t competition, Chelsea fans have even said on Twitter that they don't want to win it... what? It's a European trophy at the end of the day. I'd be over the moon if we won it!

Depends if Spurs fans consider themselves above the Europa League now, which I don't think they are. Rangers and Celticgetting to the Uefa Cup finals is considered one of their greatest achievements in history and they were getting Champions League football every season. Its not like Spurs won't finish top 4 ever again.

It will live in the memory for years. Would you agree though that the result against Hamburg reaching the final is up there with the best moments in your life as a Fulham fan?

The 2-1 win over Hamburg would only be topped by the 4-1 win over Juventus, in terms of my best moment supporting Fulham, yes. Thing is, I think some Tottenham fans will see them as being too good for the Europa League, thus virtually dismissing it.

Those Tottenham fans that do, Noza, are idiots.
Like you say, we will long remember a win in Amsterdam than cementing fourth place. If we get third in a dramatic fashion, pipping our London rivals to it, then that might be up there. A lot of Spurs fans, myself included, still look back on the 1-0 win at Eastlands a few seasons ago with great memories, as that secured us CL football for the first time.
