Do you need to drill them into a wall stud? Are the belts too heavy to just be screwed into drywall?

You don't need to drill into a wall stud for a replica belt hanger. Regular replica belts (with 2mm thick plates) should be okay. I'd side with caution if you start hanging cast replicas.

I have all 4 of my replicas hung up on the walls with thumbtacks. I space them evenly apart and hang the female end of the buttons on the tacks.

Don't crap hang in my drywall without falling, but your's may be thicker, newer, just better who knows. I would at least have to use drywall anchors, but by the time you go to that trouble you can find a stud. This is assuming you have a drill/screw bits.
Obviously, if you got a spot picked out and a stud isn't there, then use anchors or try without.

they're awesome but I don't have anything like drywall though Haha, just brick walls. I also find it crazy NameRedacted used thumb tacks I was always led to believe them belts are heavy.

I have 6 belts hanging in my bedroom and each just has two normal nails in it. The WWE Spinner would require something different though and I've been so lazy not to find room for it and I've had it forever.. What belt do you have btw?
