. WM13 - Besides for Austin/Bret, the card just seemed to be winged. Everything pointed to a Bulldog vs Owen for the Euro Title classic, yet they were thrown together as a tag team. Taker vs Sid, like Bret stated in his book, was quickly thrown together because Vince wanted the event to be unpredictable. . That's not 100% true. Ahmed Johnson and Faarooq had been feuding since Faarooq debuted the previous July. Other elements were added in along the way to enhance the match. Goldust and Triple H started their feud in December of 96 when HHH made a pass at Marlena. I remember going to a Raw in Dec. of 96 and Helmsley jumping Goldust and trying to kidnap Marlena so that had some build. I agree that the other matches didn't get much build. And I think the point of the Tag Title match was that it was 2 dysfunctional Tag Teams facing off with one another, Although I would have preferred 2 singles matches. |

A few of em... WM7 - Hogan/Slaughter was a lackluster build once the "war" ended weeks before the event. Savage/Warrior had a nice build, but the rest of the card lacked. Hogan/slaughter had a good build but died off a little when the war ended. Still was fine and being 'controversial' kept it hot. It really died when they dragged it until summerslam. Warrior/savage had a great build. I want to add: bossman vs heenan family was a hot on going story with good build Dibiase vs virgil was another hot feud with a great build. (Match wasn't that good tho) I though the early wrestlemanias typically had much better build because they had so much time between ppvs. If you wanted to pick on one of the early ones WM 7 wouldn't have been my first choice. |
