Unless China is firmly behind them, North Korea would be incredibly stupid to act on any of these threats. If they do this and are acting alone, they're in a lose-lose situation.
If they launch a nuke that actually finds the mark, we'd have no choice but to fight back with nukes. The results would be terrible, but unfortunately justified.
If they launch a nuke and MISS the target (or we successfully intercept it), that basically obligates our military to quickly and decisively end their aggression, for our own safety. Fastest way to do that is, well... the same way they will have already tried to attack us.
And if they only have enough bombs and/or missles for one or two strikes, it would be pointless for them to attack anyway. Even if they executed two perfect strikes, we'd have enough wherewithal and leadership as a country to quickly obliterate them in return, especially if we believed them to be a serious threat. If they did everything perfectly (big if), they'd wound us twice and then get completely destroyed.
We're the only country to ever use a nuclear bomb in war, and we've gone out of our way to never use one again. We've been in some long, not-so-successful wars since WW2, but I think people forget that in all of those conflicts, we intentionally avoided using our most devastating weapon. There is a very good reason for that, and I wish countries like North Korea and Iran could appreciate that. Nukes aren't something to be used in a prick-waving contest.

North Korea was seen moving a mid range missile to the east coast. The u.s is currently setting up missile defense in Guam.
This missile has South Korea and Japan in range, as well as u.s territories in Guam.

If N. Korea makes a move, it's going to be against S. Korea, not the US. From a pure logistics point, they don't have the ability to hit the US. Also, from a political point if they hit S. Korea and the US gets involved then they can play the victim card and paint us as a big bully which they can't if they hit us. If they hit us and we drop the hammer on them, they get sympathy from no one.

If they hit us and we drop the hammer on them, they get sympathy from no one. Exactly. And I think that's what they're counting on, IF they actually attack anyone (which is still in doubt due to their history of big threats). They strike S Korea, we defend S Korea, and they whine that we attacked them first. I don't think they consider their daily, almost hourly threats to melt our capital with a bomb as a provocation. Somehow, the fact that we ignored hundreds of blunt threats of violence before finally striking will be construed as the US launching an "unprovoked" attack. North Korea is like that little annoying kid in school that wags his finger in your face for three hours, saying "I'm not touching you, I'm not touching you..." And when you finally smack him, YOU go to the principal's office since he "didn't do anything."

Was about to say the same thing. They're about to be wiped off the map. Obviously, if they are going to start a war then I expect it to be with S. Korea, or Japan before actually attacking out mainland. However, I remember Clinton years ago saying on L. King that if these idiots ever bomb us then their Country will fail to exist in a matter of minutes. It should be really that simple, and if China has the balls to involve itself then we will just have to deal with that. China is the only real fear for me when dealing with N. Korea just like 60yrs ago. Hopefully none of this happens. Our troops have been through enough recently.

N. Korea advises Russia and Great Britain to evacuate their Embassy staff from Pyongyang by April 10th. they also announced plans to fully shut down the Kaesong jointly=run factory by the 10th as well. previously they had barred S. Korean workers from entering.
also, the US had deployed European units to 24 combat ready status.
this...this is not good. it's looking more and more likely something will happen.

I doubt anything will happen. They are like that kid that keeps saying push me watch what happens then when you do nothing happens. THen they say push me one more time and watch. They are backing themselves in a corner.

This is either going to end very well or very bad. NK is basically being a bully to SK to see just how much powere NK can get. However, unlike previous new SK governments, this SK government is standing their grounds for firmly. But the problem is, NK, or Kim specifically, has made this threats/promises and cannot back down from them without looking like a wimp. All this makes me fear its just a matter of time.
But if NK is simply bluffing, they're going to only hurt themselves. However if they are as confident as their threats are to made out, they probably have a big wild card or two up their sleeve.
Now China is the X-factor in this whole mess. Obviously China has back NK for a long time. However, their attitudes have started to sour with NK after all those missile tests NK did in recent times.
So what does all this say? I have this bad feeling something bad is going to happen. I pray I am wrong.
